About the company

NVIDIA designs and manufactures graphics processing units (GPUs) and computing platforms used for gaming, data centers, and artificial intelligence. These products work by using parallel processing to handle complex mathematical calculations much faster than standard computer processors, supported by a software ecosystem that allows developers to build and run AI models. Unlike competitors that may focus solely on hardware, NVIDIA integrates its chips with specialized software and cloud services to create a complete environment for high-performance tasks. The company’s goal is to provide the underlying technology necessary to power advanced computing, from realistic video game graphics to autonomous vehicles and large-scale data analysis.

What believers are saying

  • September 21, 2026 DSX Ready qualified Tesla Megapack and Vertiv for AI factories.
  • September 9, 2026 Australia partners committed up to 2 gigawatts of NVIDIA infrastructure.
  • Palantir, Google, and Emerald AI collaborations expand sovereign and grid-aware AI deployments.

What critics are saying

  • U.S. lawmakers are targeting remote cloud access loopholes; Southeast Asian GPU routing faces restrictions.
  • France and China keep antitrust investigations active, threatening fines and forced business changes.
  • Hyperscaler spending still drives demand; a 2027 capex pause would hit NVIDIA immediately.

What makes NVIDIA unique

  • NVIDIA’s September 9, 2026 DSX platform standardizes AI factories around its full stack.
  • CUDA-Q and NVQLink tie NVIDIA deeply into quantum and supercomputing workflows.
  • Its ecosystem now spans compute, networking, software, power, cooling, and site design.

Nvidia qualifies Tesla Megapack and Vertiv cooling for new AI data centre standard

Nvidia launched its DSX Ready program on 21 September, qualifying Tesla and Vertiv as suppliers for AI data centre infrastructure. The initiative certifies battery-energy-storage and cooling equipment compatible with Nvidia's high-density GPU systems. Tesla's Megapack battery system received qualification, positioning the company to supply power backup and grid-support solutions for AI facilities. This opens a new revenue stream beyond utilities and renewable projects. Vertiv secured approval for its 2.3-megawatt CoolChip coolant distribution unit. Higher rack density increases cooling requirements per megawatt, potentially accelerating Vertiv's growth beyond overall data centre expansion. The programme aims to standardise components around Nvidia's GPU infrastructure, though the company notes qualification does not guarantee project wins or replace site-level engineering. Hedge fund data from Q2 showed 285 funds holding Nvidia, 116 holding Tesla, and 112 holding Vertiv.

IonQ's Superion 256 becomes first quantum processor at NVIDIA's Accelerated Quantum Research Center

IonQ will deploy its Superion 256 quantum computer at NVIDIA's Accelerated Quantum Research Centre, marking the first on-premise quantum computing installation at the facility. The system will connect directly with an NVIDIA GB200 NVL72 system via NVIDIA NVQLink, with workloads managed by the CUDA-Q platform. The joint research programme will focus on hybrid software development and large-scale system prototyping. IonQ's roadmap targets 10,000 qubits and full fault tolerance through vertical integration of its SkyWater CMOS foundry. Earlier this month, the companies published joint research with Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the University of Tennessee, introducing a framework combining generative AI with distributed quantum algorithms for complex optimisation challenges. The partnership aims to advance the integration of quantum processors with supercomputing hardware.

Ex-Anthropic researchers raise $200M at $1B valuation to democratise self-improving AI tools

Former researchers from leading AI labs have launched Mirendil, raising $200 million in seed funding at a $1 billion valuation. Andreessen Horowitz and Kleiner Perkins led the round, with Nvidia also participating. The startup builds AI systems that can improve themselves with minimal human intervention, potentially accelerating discoveries in medicine and materials science. The founders left Anthropic to pursue broader access to advanced AI tools. The 20-person team includes talent from Google and xAI. Mirendil has already secured a major Google Cloud partnership for infrastructure support. The platform aims to enable scientists outside large corporations to create custom models for specific research problems. The high seed-stage valuation reflects investor confidence in democratising AI research capabilities beyond giant laboratories.

Apple hits $345 record high while NVIDIA's valuation compresses despite $96B quarterly revenue

Apple shares hit an all-time high on 21 September 2026, touching nearly $345 intraday before settling near $339. The stock has climbed more than 36% over the trailing 12 months, pushing its market cap above $5 trillion. The rally reflects renewed confidence in Apple's hardware and services ecosystem. Strong demand for the latest iPhone models, particularly the iPhone 18 Pro and upcoming foldable iPhone Duo, has extended delivery times and lifted upgrade-cycle expectations. Meanwhile, NVIDIA's forward price-to-earnings ratio has fallen sharply from levels above 25x earlier this year, despite recent quarterly revenue exceeding $96 billion, up more than 100% year over year. Investors appear to be pricing in risks around potential slowdowns in AI capital expenditure and competition from custom chips.

Nvidia director Mark Stevens sells $300M in stock as shares dip after 6-day win streak

Nvidia director Mark Stevens sold 1.4 million shares worth approximately $300 million on 18 September, according to a Form 4 filing. The transactions were executed at weighted average prices of $219.72 and $220.42 per share through trusts. This follows Stevens's $640 million sale earlier in the month. The former Sequoia Capital managing partner still holds over 26 million Nvidia shares directly and through trusts. Nvidia shares edged down 0.2% in overnight trading after six consecutive winning sessions that delivered 8.6% gains. The company recently reported 106% revenue growth, with data centre revenue jumping 117% to $89 billion. CEO Jensen Huang stated that AI has reached an inflection point, with accelerating demand from frontier labs and startups.
