Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
  • At least one year of experience as a Structural Engineer is required.
  • An aptitude for graphics and working knowledge of REVIT, AutoCAD, STAAD, Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat are required.
  • A Certificate of Engineering Intern is required.
  • The position requires close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
  • Create detailed structural designs, models, and drawings, including plans, details, schedules, notes, isometrics, elevations, and sections for preliminary, schematic, design development, construction, and record documents.
  • Perform design and calculation tasks using standard engineering techniques, procedures, practices, fundamentals, and criteria.
  • Design routine, non-complex projects and portions of complex projects under the direction of a professional engineer or other responsible staff member.
  • Review rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and other engineering data received from engineers and architects.
  • Develop REVIT and AutoCAD drawings from verbal instructions, rough sketches, marked-up drawings, design computations, engineering fundamentals, and the company detail library.
  • Research discipline-related code issues and present interpretations.
  • Visit sites to make observations, measurements, images, and records of conditions at existing facilities and buildings in various stages of construction.
  • Review and monitor construction progress, prepare reports, and perform construction administration duties in accordance with contract documents.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software to prepare engineering calculations and designs.
  • Instruct drafters and designers to convey the structural design in construction documents.
  • Perform checking and quality-control procedures on personal work and work prepared by drafters and designers.
  • Coordinate applicable project discipline drawings and specifications.
  • Assist with client contact and communication for specific projects.
  • Promote communication, cooperation, and quality among disciplines and team members.
  • Maintain job-specific standards, practices, and quality in accordance with company policies, procedures, and CAD standards.
