Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in GIS, Geography, Civil Engineering, Urban Planning, or a related field.
  • At least 4 years of GIS experience supporting infrastructure projects.
  • Proficiency with ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online.
  • Strong understanding of spatial data management, geodatabase design, and coordinate systems, including NAD83 and Texas State Plane.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and manage project geodatabases for transportation and airport projects.
  • Compile and manage spatial datasets from TxDOT, TNRIS, FEMA, FAA, airport authorities, municipalities, and Metropolitan Planning Organizations.
  • Ensure data adheres to Texas State Plane Coordinate System (NAD83) requirements and applicable TxDOT and FAA standards.
  • Develop GIS mapping and spatial analysis for corridor studies, mobility plans, traffic datasets, and roadway safety evaluations.
  • Produce base maps, constraint mapping exhibits, and schematic and feasibility study visuals.
  • Support roadway design teams through integration with MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Civil 3D.
  • Support Airport Master Plans and Airport Layout Plan development through GIS analysis.
  • Develop and maintain airport asset inventories for runways, taxiways, aprons, facilities, and utility systems.
  • Perform FAA Part 77 airspace and obstruction analyses.
  • Perform 3D surface modeling using LiDAR and terrain datasets.
  • Prepare GIS exhibits and mapping products for National Environmental Policy Act documentation and FAA environmental reviews.
  • Analyze and map impacts to floodplains, wetlands and waterways, protected habitats, airport noise contours, and compatible land use areas.
  • Support right-of-way mapping and parcel analysis for transportation projects.
  • Map and manage water, sewer, electrical, and fuel utilities and airport assets such as lighting, pavement, and signage.
  • Assist in developing GIS-based asset management systems.
  • Develop public meeting exhibits, stakeholder presentation graphics, interactive web maps, dashboards, and story maps using ArcGIS Online.
  • Translate complex engineering data into clear, user-friendly visual products that support decision-making.
  • Perform quality assurance and quality control reviews on GIS datasets and mapping deliverables.
  • Integrate GIS data with GPS survey data, LiDAR datasets, drone imagery, and CAD platforms.
  • Support digital delivery initiatives, including GIS and CAD/BIM integration workflows.
Desired Qualifications
  • TxDOT Precertification in Work Category 1.9.1.
  • Experience supporting TxDOT, NTTA, county, or municipal transportation projects.
  • Experience supporting FAA airport or aviation projects.
  • Familiarity with FAA Part 77 airspace analysis and Airport Layout Plans.
  • Experience using MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and Civil 3D.
  • Knowledge of LiDAR, Digital Elevation Models, and 3D terrain modeling.
  • Experience with GIS automation using Python or ModelBuilder.
  • Experience supporting environmental documentation workflows, including National Environmental Policy Act processes, and aviation noise contour mapping.
