Network Engineer
About the job
- Three to four years of experience with WAN protocols (BGP, EIGRP, OSPF), LAN/WLAN, Cisco Catalyst switches, and Cisco ISR/ASR routers.
- Intermediate problem-resolution knowledge of hardware and software platform issues in complex, layered network infrastructure.
- Knowledge of next-generation firewalls, including Cisco ASA, Palo Alto Networks, and Fortinet, and security products and practices including access control lists, firewalls, and virtual private networks.
- Good understanding of packet flow, the Open Systems Interconnection model, and Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol.
- Experience with Cisco IOS, Cisco ASA/Palo Alto firewalls, Fortinet Wireless, SolarWinds, and other network management utilities.
- Strong next-generation firewall experience across multiple vendors, including Cisco ASA, Palo Alto, and FortiGate.
- Strong troubleshooting expertise in routing, switching, and virtual private networks.
- Understanding of WAN and internet multi-homing architecture.
- Knowledge of ITIL and enterprise change management.
- Technical project management background.
- Experience working in a large enterprise environment and ability to deliver project-level presentations to business sponsors.
- Strong troubleshooting and critical-thinking skills to resolve complex problems.
- Intermediate knowledge of network systems design principles and standards.
- Minimum bachelor's degree in Computers, Electronics, or Telecom.
- Minimum CCNA certification.
- Troubleshoot and provide Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support to diagnose and resolve escalated issues that may cause service degradation or interruption in connectivity across the data center, disaster recovery, regional hubs, and branches.
- Proactively monitor more than 1,000 network devices using SolarWinds and PRTG, and use knowledge of network management system and Syslog monitoring, alerting, and escalations.
- Resolve hardware and software platform issues in complex, layered network infrastructure environments.
- Troubleshoot routing, switching, and virtual private networks, and understand WAN and internet multi-homing architecture.
- Operate in a 24x7 operational, rotational network operations center shift environment.
- Follow ITIL practices and enterprise change management processes.
- CCNP training or certification is preferred.
