About the job
- Hold current licensure as a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse in the state where applying to teach.
- Be a graduate of an approved School of Nursing and hold a Bachelor of Science in Nursing or credentials required by state regulations.
- Meet the faculty requirements set by the Board of Vocational Nursing.
- Have current knowledge of nursing practice and nursing sciences, and current clinical-setting knowledge or experience.
- Be able to mentor students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings; work independently without close supervision; and successfully handle day-to-day nursing lab operations.
- Maintain current immunizations and Basic Life Support Certification.
- Continuously improve instructional quality by reviewing and using innovative teaching methodologies and techniques.
- Use, or be willing to acquire skills to use, online activities to enhance course content and interactive teaching and learning.
- Assist with reviewing and revising the syllabus for assigned program courses and instructional guidelines.
- Submit required program reports and forms to the program director in a timely manner.
- Keep current with new technologies and safety regulations.
- Maintain student attendance records, grades, and skills check-off forms, and assist with program data collection by established deadlines.
- Assist with updating and maintaining student files relating to clinical requirements, immunizations, and educational requirements.
- Teach courses at varied times and locations according to program needs, including lecture content and clinical rotations on weekdays or weekends and during days or evenings.
- Participate in professional development, maintain continuing education hours for renewed licensure, and stay current with college updates.
- Participate in assigned committees as availability permits, prioritizing teaching responsibilities.
