Dead by Daylight developers explore Survivor Chat Wheel to fix solo queue balance.

Dead by Daylight developers explore Survivor Chat Wheel to fix solo queue balance. Surviving the fog in Dead by Daylight has always demanded split-second timing, but the recent developer announcements suggest a major shift is coming to the asymmetrical horror title. Key Takeaways * Behaviour Interactive is officially evaluating a Survivor Chat Wheel following community feedback from the recent Reddit AMA. * Players can secure the base game and chapter expansions online with optimized retail options under £15 / €15 to jump into the queue affordably. * Solo queue quality-of-life is finally getting the developer spotlight required to bridge the gap against premade squads. Solo queue survival in Dead by Daylight has historically tested the patience of even the most dedicated horror fans. During a recent Reddit AMA, Behaviour Interactive confirmed that a Survivor Chat Wheel is actively being evaluated to address long-standing communication gaps in public matches. Behaviour also spoke about other plans the studio has to improve the DbD experience, including potential Killer bots in custom games, improving progression, and the wish to "debloat" add-ons. What does the proposed Survivor Chat Wheel change for solo queue? A survivor chat wheel introduces pre-set tactical commands to the base user interface, giving solo players a non-verbal method to coordinate repairs, healing, and killer tracking. Historically, uncoordinated teams struggled against high-tier killers because voice chat was absent from public matchmaking. Behaviour Interactive acknowledged this persistent disadvantage, noting that internal discussions are underway to implement targeted communication tools without disrupting the core horror atmosphere. How will communication updates impact match progression? Communication updates shift the foundational balance of asymmetrical matches by giving random teammates similar strategic alignment to organized groups. Killers who rely on solo queue miscommunication will face tighter survivor efficiency, forcing adjustments to map pressure and perk loadouts. Is now the best time to jump back into the fog? Community-driven quality-of-life improvements make the current development cycle an ideal window for newcomers and returning veterans to re-enter the trials. Strategic shoppers seeking to minimize entry costs can find the base game and major chapter bundles priced comfortably under £15 / €15 across digital retail platforms by clicking the links above. GTA 6 launches as a standalone single-player game in 2026.

GTA 6 launches as a standalone single-player game in 2026. Dead by Daylight outlines bots, reworks and future updates. Developer Behaviour Interactive has outlined plans for a Survivor quick-communication chat wheel in Dead by Daylight, along with longer-term work on progression, perks, offerings, and add-ons. The plans were discussed during a developer Q&A on Reddit and were reported by PCGamesN. Over the game's decade-long lifespan, its growing collection of perks, add-ons, and offerings has become extensive. Behaviour's developers said they are reviewing systems connected to progression and inventory management, while also preparing features and updates for modes, bots, character reworks, and anti-cheat efforts. Survivor chat wheel planned for the fall mid-chapter. The Survivor chat wheel is planned for the fall mid-chapter update. It will allow Survivors to communicate their intentions through preset messages and is intended primarily to help solo players. The feature will initially be available for Survivors in 1v4, with Behaviour indicating that it could be used in more situations over time. Associate Product Director Justin said the tool could also give the design team a more consistent level of shared Survivor information when balancing Killers. Progression and inventory changes remain under discussion. Senior Design Director Daniel Drapeau said Behaviour is reviewing its progression tracks and systems. He identified bloat in elements including add-ons and perks, and said the team wants to reduce items that sit unused in player inventories. Drapeau added that progression work may take time because it is connected to much of the game. Senior Game Designer Jeff Melo said the offering system is being considered for refinement and that the team has discussed reducing the number of add-ons while making those that remain more impactful. He described those ideas as longer-term plans that are still under discussion. Justin also acknowledged a growing need for improved sorting as more characters, perks, and outfits are added, though there are no hard plans for sorting changes at present. * Survivor Chat Wheel: Planned for the fall mid-chapter update for Survivors in 1v4. * Progression Review: Behaviour is reviewing progression systems and considering ways to address unused inventory items. * Add-on and Offering Changes: The team is discussing refining offerings and reducing add-on counts while improving their impact. * Custom Game Killer Bots: Killer bots are planned for custom games, with Killers already supported in 2v8 likely to be prioritized. Bots, reworks, and future modes. Behaviour is discussing the next steps for bots, including Killer bots in custom games. Justin said Killers currently supported in 2v8 will be easier to support because work has already been done for them as disconnect bots, while full support for every Killer would be a substantial task. Melo said the team is reviewing older Killers that lack add-on variety and is working on map-generation changes intended to better address Killers that are especially map dependent. The Skull Merchant rework remains planned after the team revisited its approach through multiple iterations. The design is built around the pillars of Track, Hunt, DIY Tech, Trophy, and Kill. Behaviour also plans to introduce more classes and Killers to 2v8, though both will remain limited to keep the mode manageable and simpler than the standard perk system. The team aims to release at least one new mode within the next year, while noting that development must be balanced against other priorities. Other updates under consideration. A match replay system remains a possibility, but Justin said it should happen only after the game's big upcoming update because it would be a substantial system to build. The Swamp rework is still planned, although the team is currently focusing level art and design resources on the upcoming update. Behaviour is also considering more challenging quest objectives in response to player feedback. Melo said adjustments to underutilized in-game mechanics are planned for a lighter update in early 2027, and Associate Product Director Joey Audet Pepin said a gifting system is planned for a similar timeframe. Lead Community Manager MandyTalk said the team has anti-cheat plans in development based on a recent in-game survey and expects to share more in the coming weeks. Melo also said the team is tracking players who quickly abandon matches and is identifying solutions intended to reduce how often that happens, though no timing was provided. You may also like. Dead by Daylight 'chorus of Sin' chapter releases on August 25.

Dead by Daylight 'chorus of Sin' chapter releases on August 25. The first ever community-led chapter. Published: August 4, 2026 Behaviour Interactive has revealed that the next Dead by Daylight chapter, "Chorus of Sin," will release on August 25. Additionally, the character is available today via the Steam Public Test Build (PTB). "Chorus of Sin" marks the first community-led chapter, created through a series of votes, blog posts, and community streams. The killer for this chapter is The Judgement, who features a distinct and unique design based on "divine themes." The character punishes Survivors with Divine Light, which marks them with Heresy. When downed, marked Survivors may be sent into Exile: a realm of "eternal punishment" where players must avoid hazards at the risk of "speeding up their own demise." The Killer is also equipped with three character-specific Perks - Celestial Witness, Hex: Under Your Thumb and Lay Waste, adding to The Judgement's immense power. Aurora Stardotter is the survivor, who is a spiritual scientist that comes from a world destroyed by The Judgement. Her perks are Fruits of Your Labor, Salvation's Cry and Boon: Steadfast. All of these help her to assist fellow Survivors and escape from any killer in her path. The chapter will release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. This year, the game will add Art the Clown from the Terrifier movies as a killer in November. In 2027, it will also release a new killer based on the Dead by Daylight spin-off game, The Casting of Frank Stone. Beyond the release of new killers and survivors, next year, a major visual upgrade to the game will release. It will add new animations and models for every character, improved map and environment details, and even dynamic weather effects. New voice lines for certain characters will also be present. Further, a 1v1 mode and "Zombie mode" are in development. A new Scooby Doo-themed collection will also launch later this year.

Dead by Daylight's first Indigenous Survivor "Shane" Out now.

Dead by Daylight's first Indigenous Survivor "Shane" Out now. Standing Trial 3 hours ago Become a Member Today, developer Behaviour Interactive have launched their newest paid DLC Survivor "Shane Wiigwaas" for their asymmetrical horror title 'Dead by Daylight' across all platforms. An Anishinaabe defence attorney whose unwavering pursuit of justice drove him straight into The Fog, Shane becomes the game's first indigenous Survivor, bringing a powerful story, unique perspective, and versatile set of Perks to the game. Shane joins Dead by Daylight under the banner "The Life Road". Growing up in the Glass River First Nation, Shane Wiigwaas was driven by a simple belief: justice wasn't about punishment, but rather restoring balance. That conviction led him to become a defence attorney, advocating for First Nation clients and others in need. When Shane's cousin Derek was accused of murdering a police officer, the evidence seemed overwhelming despite Derek's insistence that the officer had vanished into a mysterious cloud of black fog. Though Shane believed the story, he urged his cousin to accept a plea deal - something Derek refused, determined to stand by the truth. The result was a life sentence without parole. A decision that would haunt Shane for the rest of his days. Leaving home, he travelled Turtle Rock on his motorcycle, helping others where XboxEra Ltd could, and searching for answers about the strange fog that had destroyed his cousin's life. His search led him to the Pacific Northwest where he set out to investigate the unexplained disappearance of a man named Jake Park. Shane ventured into the forest, to the spot of Jake's vanishing... and was never seen again. "To us, representation has always meant telling authentic stories and creating meaningful connections for players," shared Dave Richard, Senior Creative Director for Dead by Daylight. "Shane's is a perspective and culture XboxEra Ltd has never explored before in its game, and XboxEra Ltd is honoured to welcome its first indigenous Survivor into The Fog. It was also important for XboxEra Ltd to celebrate indigenous talent wherever possible, and so XboxEra Ltd is thrilled to have collaborated with an Anishinaabe artist on the Chapter's key art to help bring Shane's story to life." Shane arrives with three new character-specific Perks designed to reward bold decision-making, teamwork, and an assertive play style. Wide Open Throttle gives Shane the ability to gain a burst of Haste after Fast Vaulting a Pallet, while also resetting the Pallet and blocking it for a considerable duration. During this time, his teammates will be able to see the blocked Pallet's Aura. Cross-Examination brings new evidence to light, allowing Shane to see a trail of the Killer's Light Marks when inside their Terror Radius. Following the trail also provides a burst of Haste. Finally, Lend a Hand unlocks a special healing ability once per Trial when blessing or cleansing a Totem. Shane can activate the ability to give the teammate healing a small increase in permanent healing charges. Road Worn Every road leaves its mark, and Shane has travelled many over the course of his days. To celebrate his arrival in Dead by Daylight, The Life Road Collection launches with two Outfits inspired by the experiences that shaped him. Shane's Rare Law School Nights Outfit offers the casual comfort of a hoodie, joggers, and coloured braid wraps worn as a student earning his degree in Northern Ontario. His Very Rare Woodland Regalia Outfit, made together with his grandmother, delivers a more traditional look at his Anishinaabe roots. "As our first Indigenous character, we knew we needed to get Shane right," said Sarah Robinson, Associate Art Director on Dead by Daylight. "We've taken a lot of care to craft authentic and engaging cosmetics that ensure he proudly reps his Anishinaabe community and heritage. We're thrilled to bring Shane into the fog and hope players love him as much as we do!" Dead by Daylight is available across PC via Steam, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch consoles - featuring full cross-save and crossplay support. The game is also available as part of Xbox Game Pass's Premium and PlayStation Plus' Extra paths. The game is currently celebrating its ten-year anniversary, by the way, with lots of stuff and overhauls coming! Enjoying DayOne? Ice Nine Kills Slash Their Way To First Ever #1 At Active Rock Radio.

Ice Nine Kills Slash Their Way To First Ever #1 At Active Rock Radio. ICE NINE KILLS Slash Their Way To First Ever #1 At Active Rock Radio With "TWISTING THE KNIFE (FEAT. MCKENNA GRACE)" Ice Nine Kills have officially claimed their first-ever #1 at Active Rock Radio with "Twisting The Knife (feat. Mckenna Grace)," the official song from the franchise-record-breaking horror film, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group's Scream 7. The milestone marks a killer new chapter for a track that has already cut deep across streaming, radio, and the wider INKverse."Twisting The Knife" surpassed 10 million cross-platform streams in its first week, topped Billboard's Hot Hard Rock Songs chart and Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart, beating out one of rock's biggest bands, the Foo Fighters to the top spot, hit #1 on US YouTube's Current Rock, Hard Rock, and Metal Music Videos charts, and helped soundtrack Scream 7's record-breaking box office debut. Today, it becomes the first song written for the iconic franchise to hit #1 at radio. To date, "Twisting The Knife" has clocked up 32.2 million cross-platform streams. Speaking on the news, Ice Nine Kills frontman, Spencer Charnas shares "Scream has been and will always be a monumental influence on Mayhem Music Magazine, and the music has been every bit as important as the films themselves, starting with Marco Beltrami's brilliant score. The soundtrack to the original Scream was especially life-changing for me, from Birdbrain's 'Youth of America' and Soho's 'Whisper to a Scream' to, of course, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds' iconic 'Red Right Hand.' Hearing those songs still takes me right back to that moment in time. To now be included among the songs that make up the legacy of this franchise is one of the greatest honors of its career. Equally meaningful is the opportunity to help bridge the worlds of rock music and horror cinema once again. That connection once felt central to both communities, but it has faded somewhat over the past couple of decades. Mayhem Music Magazine is proud to play even a small role in bringing those worlds back together." The #1 adds another weapon to an already formidable arsenal for Ice Nine Kills, whose recent horror franchise collaborations include "A Work of Art" from Terrifier 3, "Hell or High Slaughter (Grave Diggler: Pt. 2)" from Ready or Not 2: Here I Come and the recently announced inclusion of Spencer voicing a playable character in the highly anticipated official Halloween video game. Each release has pushed the band deeper into horror history, strengthening their place at the intersection of heavy music, cinematic world-building, and genre fandom. And the next scene is already set. During Dead By Daylight's 10th Anniversary Broadcast, Behaviour Interactive revealed a new collaboration with Ice Nine Kills. The band's Dead By Daylight-inspired track, "Play Dead" arrives this Friday, June 26th, bringing the INKverse into one of horror gaming's most beloved and successful releases. The achievement arrives at a time when Ice Nine Kills are operating on a scale few bands in modern heavy music can match. With more than 2 billion global streams, over 500 million YouTube views, sold-out tours across multiple continents, a 2.5-year run supporting Metallica in stadiums worldwide, major collaborations spanning Terrifier 3, Scream 7, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, and now Dead By Daylight, the band continues to blur the line between music, horror, gaming, and cinema. "Twisting The Knife" becoming their first Active Rock Radio #1 is another milestone in a career that shows no signs of slowing down.
