Requirements
  • Applicants must be currently matriculated undergraduate students and must be based in the United States for the entire internship.
  • Applicants must have completed at least one year of their undergraduate program before the internship begins.
  • Applicants should have a strong interest in the rights of incarcerated people and a commitment to civil rights.
  • Applicants should have strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Applicants should have research, writing, and communication skills.
  • Applicants should have strong computer skills, particularly web-based research, and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel.
  • Applicants must be lawfully authorized to work to receive a stipend.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with the production and distribution of advocacy materials.
  • Conduct factual research and writing regarding the rights of incarcerated people and legislative movement.
  • Gather current information related to prison and jail conditions.
  • Document and track complaints received from incarcerated people and respond with informational materials.
  • Provide campaign and litigation support to supervising attorneys.
