Requirements
  • Must have graduated from an approved Medical Assistant program and hold a current Medical Assistant certification license issued by the Washington State Department of Health.
  • Must be Medical Assistant-Certified or possess an MA-Interim License and pass the exam within the 90 day probationary period.
  • Must obtain Basic Life Support CPR certification within 90 days of hire date and maintain current BLS CPR throughout employment.
  • Must adhere to Sea Mar Employee Health Screening Policy and complete pre-hire and annual employee health screenings; annual influenza vaccine is required unless the employee has a medical or religious exemption approved by Administration.
  • Must be able to travel to other Sea Mar sites as needed for staffing and patient needs.
  • Must be able to read and write proficiently in English; ability to speak and interpret in Spanish is preferred.
  • Must be able to interact sensitively and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds; maintain patient confidentiality and privacy per HIPAA regulations.
  • Must be able to see an average of 18/21 patients per day (based on provider) and meet the Patient-Centered Medical Home model of care; ability to coordinate referrals and manage clinical quality measures; proficiency with Sea Mar's Electronic Health Records and patient management systems by end of probation.
Responsibilities
  • Track and document all clinical measures and outcomes (Clinical Quality Measures, Meaningful Use, etc.) in the Electronic Health Record.
  • Coordinate and process all patient referrals, for both internal and external services, working with Referral Coordinators as needed.
  • Ensure all patient clinical measures are addressed for each visit by thorough review of the Electronic Health Record and patient information.
  • Assist providers with in-charting during office visits and with charting as needed.
  • Administer injections (intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal) and distribute oral medications under physician order.
  • Perform venipuncture and assist with rooming and exiting patients.
  • Prepare the patient for visits including obtaining subjective information and vital signs; perform Pre-Huddle preparation and participate in Care Team Huddle to collect forms, lab and x-ray reports, review Patient Manager and Medication confirmation process.
  • Maintain documentation of all relevant information, care provided and processes in Sea Mar protocols; maintain proper medication storage, dispensing, and waste logs; reconcile medication and immunization data.
  • Assist with GYN exams, minor procedures such as I&Ds; provide support for ordering department supplies; assist Nursing/Medical Assistant Supervisors with pod/flow improvements.
  • Complete point of care referrals for specialty care, care coordination and other services; inform patients regarding specialty referrals with required information for submitting to specialists.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Ambulatory care experience preferred.
  • Experience in Family Medicine preferred.
  • Proficiency in SharePoint, Arcadia, OneHealth Portal, HealthPlanFinder, electronic health records, EKG monitors, retinal cameras and other technical resources as needed; be fully proficient with Sea Mar’s patient management and electronic health records systems by end of probation.
