Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • The employee must be able to stand, walk, and sit for the stated durations; frequently use fingers and hands for data entry, assembling instrument trays, and packaging items; lift, carry, and push objects weighing up to 100 pounds with assistance; and perform squatting, kneeling, stooping, bending, crouching, and reaching above shoulder level.
  • The employee must be able to hear above the noise level of operating sterilizers and see general, near, far, color, and peripheral vision details to detect defects in instruments.
  • The employee must follow Occupational Safety and Health Administration guidelines and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention infection prevention practices.
Responsibilities
  • Support the daily functions of Star Community Health Dental by maintaining and operating sterilization equipment and ensuring dental instruments and supplies are properly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized.
  • Maintain records and logs, check inventory, and execute proper infection-control measures.
  • Clean, sterilize, and properly store all dental instruments.
  • Operate, monitor, and clean sterilization equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment and workspace.
  • Prepare clinical items and setups throughout the day and help the clinical team with infection control and cleaning operatories between appointments.
  • Maintain dental equipment and materials, maintain records of inventory or tool usage, and relay information to the dental program clinical lead so supplies can be ordered.
  • Check sterile supplies to ensure they are not outdated.
  • Deliver tools to specified locations in the office.
  • Perform daily and weekly infection-control tests to ensure optimum sterility.
  • Observe instruments during sterilization procedures to ensure sterilization standards are followed.
  • Prepare sterilization equipment for use by maintaining sterilizer logs and maintenance schedules, and determine whether sterilization equipment is working properly by performing routine maintenance checks.
Desired Qualifications
  • Dental experience is preferred.
