Knowledge Road provides special education support services to K-12 schools and families, mainly within NYC's DOE, by supplying certified SETSS teachers and related service providers under a contractor staffing model. Its core service is SETSS, where teachers deliver individualized or small-group instruction to help students meet their IEP goals, in classrooms or separate locations. It also offers ABA therapy, academic intervention, counseling, and other therapies, supported by resources like paper-free billing, IT support, curriculum advisors, and teaching materials for its educator network. Its goal is to address the shortage of qualified NYC special education teachers and ensure compliant, DOE-aligned delivery of IEP-mandated services through long-term partnerships rather than one-off placements.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Hiring ads in 2026 show active demand in Queens and Brooklyn.
  • Knowledge Road still markets hundreds of students served, indicating scale inside NYC boroughs.
  • Recent city audit pressure on DOE increases parent-paid SETSS demand and reimbursement disputes.

What critics are saying

  • NYCPS missed $431.6 million in Medicaid reimbursements, signaling weak special-education payment discipline.
  • Private-SETSS lawsuits like B.G. v. NYC DOE, filed November 2025, sustain contractor demand today.
  • 1099 teacher staffing and $60-$100 hourly rates create margin pressure if DOE tightens oversight.

What makes Knowledge Road unique

  • Knowledge Road pairs SETSS, ABA, therapy, and academic intervention for NYC schools.
  • Jacob Kapustin positioned Knowledge Road as a multi-service, borough-wide special education vendor.
  • Its contractor model and paper-free billing support flexible, fast placement across DOE cases.
