Requirements
  • MS Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, or BS Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering and current registration as a Professional Engineer in either Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years’ experience in the design and analysis of nuclear or industrial facilities.
  • Working knowledge of STAAD, ANSYS, ABAQUS, SASSI, DYNA3D or similar computer codes.
  • Sound working knowledge of National Codes and Standards such as IBC, AISC (ASD, LRFD, and N690), ASCE, ACI (318 & 349).
  • Ability to perform field walk-downs of structural systems.
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, & Adobe).
  • All ProSidian staff must be determined eligible for a “Facility Access Authorization” (also referred to as an “Employment Authorization”) by the USG’s designated Security Office.
  • May be required to complete a Financial Disclosure Statement.
  • Must be able to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigative requirements, up to a Top Secret or DOE "Q" clearance.
  • Location: Savannah River Site / Aiken, South Carolina
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required to attend meetings, events, site visits, or other training requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Perform advanced Civil-Structural Analyst Functions (structural analyses) of various structures to validate their design adequacy for normal operation and accident loading conditions.
  • Conduct structural analyses including Seismic Soil-Structure Interaction (SSI); dynamic seismic analysis (response spectra and time-history); development of in-structure seismic response spectra; evaluate structural responses for tornado winds, missile penetration, precipitation (rain, flood, snow), and explosion (blast/detonation and deflagration).
  • Interface with vendors, fabricators and other Engineering organizations as needed (may require off-site travel).
  • Provide engineering services using Savannah River Remediation processes and procedures; programmatic guidance provided by SRR.
