Requirements
  • Registered Nurse licensed in the State of California required.
  • Master’s degree in nursing required.
  • Terminal degree in the primary discipline taught or in a related discipline that is recognized within the field required.
  • Nurse Practitioner license and certification required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of full-time faculty higher education teaching experience required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in direct patient care as a Family, or Psych Mental Health NP is required.
  • Knowledge of Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards required.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development, assessment and evaluation required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in pre- or post-licensure nursing programs required.
Responsibilities
  • Teach and develop online or onsite courses in the following areas: Master of Science in Nursing Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Maintain pedagogical and subject matter expertise in the instructor’s field.
  • Create a positive learning environment for learners.
  • Ensure course and program practices align with compliance and accreditation standards.
  • Adhere to the National University’s academic integrity policy.
  • Maintain a productive scholarship agenda suitable to a teaching university.
  • Engage in scholarly activities to maintain professional growth.
  • Participate in professional development as outlined in faculty policies.
  • Participate in curriculum oversight, shared governance, and the student experience.
  • Serve on committees at the program, department, school, college or/and university level and engage in community activities that promote program outreach and university goals.
  • Participate in program meetings and advisory boards to integrate best practices and strategic initiatives.
  • Responsible for the continued, successful accreditation/approval of the MSN program through leadership and management.
  • Provide engaged instruction; develop curricula; conduct program, course, and student outcomes assessment; pass rates in each program as well as advise and support students.
  • Provide leadership and assume responsibility for the administration of the MSN NP program as required by licensing and accrediting agencies.
  • Responsible for hiring both Psych Mental Health and Family Health Nurse Practitioner faculty.
  • Supervise nursing staff within the MSN NP programs.
  • Plan, organize, administer, and oversee all aspects of the processes and operations of the MSN NP programs.
  • Develop the budget for the MSN NP programs with the Associate Dean of Nursing.
  • Work with Campus Operations and Staffing to plan, schedule, and ensure adequate staff for courses.
  • Communicate changes in state and federal regulations to appropriate people.
  • Participate in the grievance process for escalating student issues.
  • Ensure all university required processes are completed within designated timeframes (i.e., PARs, self-evaluations, FAP submissions).
  • Ensure all accreditation processes are completed within the designated time frame (CCNE annual report, CCNE Self Study and 5-year CIPR)
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience as a CA-BRN approved Program Director preferred.
  • Leadership &/or project management in a higher education setting preferred.
