Requirements
- A High School Diploma or GED is required.
- At least 4 years of related telecommunications experience overseeing and installing OSP and ISP copper, CCTV, Distributed Antenna Systems, fiber optic, and structured cabling in diverse construction industries.
- An active TS/SCI security clearance is required.
- A BICSI certification is required, at minimum BICSI Installer 1 for copper certification.
- Manufacturer certifications and/or fiber certification are required.
- Experience and knowledge of telecommunications installation in complex markets, including federal and government facilities, healthcare and hospitals, commercial buildings, and mission-critical facilities are required.
- Ability to pass a basic telecommunications knowledge test is required.
- Hands-on experience and knowledge in low-voltage specialty contracting, solution-driven initiatives, and field-project-team leadership are required.
- Demonstrated ability to read and understand plans and specifications is required.
- Basic knowledge of safely operating hand and power tools and following safety regulations and procedures is required.
- Ability to survey and document existing telecommunications infrastructure, including copper and fiber cables and active and passive components, using electronic devices is required.
- Ability to sketch rack, floor, and wall elevations is required.
- Understanding of installation, inspection, termination, testing, and troubleshooting of ISP/OSP telecommunications systems, including fiber optics, Category 5, 6, and 6A and associated equipment, is required.
- Knowledge of backbone and riser copper and fiber cable, pathways and cable tray (TC, MDF, and IDF), plywood, cabinets and racks, telecommunications devices, prefabricated components and assemblies, and telecommunications grounding systems is required.
- Previous experience installing various types of low-voltage cabling is required.
- Ability to lead cable installation from Telecommunications Rooms to work area outlets, follow directions, and arrange cables in proper bundles at the Telecommunications Room for dressing and termination is required.
- A full set of tools must be obtained before the first day of employment as needed to perform the position.
- Knowledge and understanding of different color codes and familiarity with TIA and EIA standards are required.
- Previous experience terminating, testing, troubleshooting, and labeling horizontal copper (Category 5 and Category 6) is required.
Responsibilities
- Install communications cabling and equipment in accordance with applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
- Perform quality assurance checks of the team's work to ensure cable installation meets applicable requirements.
- Maintain a clean working environment and participate in daily job-site cleanup.
- Secure company tools and materials daily.
- Travel 50% annually.
