Requirements
- An M.D. or D.O. from an ABIM-recognized pediatric residency is required.
- Completion of a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology is required.
- Completion of a fellowship in pediatric transplant hepatology is required.
- A valid and unrestricted Florida medical license, or eligibility to apply, is required.
- At least one year of experience is required.
- The physician must maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
- The physician must be able to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
- The physician must be able to analyze, organize, and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
- The physician must be able to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
- The physician must be able to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.

- The physician must have excellent clinical knowledge and experience, especially in gastrointestinal and transplant hepatology, to provide safe, quality patient care and meet institutional standards of care.
- The physician must have excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with staff, patients, and family members.
- The physician must demonstrate the ability to meet the responsibilities of the position.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct outpatient care to pediatric patients, including pre- and post-transplant patients.
- Provide direct inpatient care to pediatric patients, including pre- and post-transplant patients.
- Attend multidisciplinary transplant conferences and rounds.
- Develop and carry out comprehensive medical treatment plans addressing biological, psychological, and sociocultural domains.
- Perform physical assessments of patients in a logical and respectful manner.
- Prescribe medical treatment and clinical medications to patients.
- Gather essential and accurate information through review of pertinent records and interviews with patients, family members, caregivers, and other health professionals.
- Increase knowledge and expertise by attending continuing educational offerings.
- Make informed decisions about interventions based on patient information and parent or guardian preference, up-to-date scientific evidence, and clinical judgment.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information according to federal and state guidelines and regulations.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary service lines in the care of patients before and after transplant.
- Co-chair weekly Multidisciplinary Pre-Transplant Selection Committee meetings where new liver transplant referrals are reviewed and accepted or declined for listing.
- Attend all Miami Transplant Institute Pediatric Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Committee meetings and participate in process improvement plans.
- Analyze outcomes and trends in data to determine appropriate performance metrics.
- Assist in data collection, analysis, trending, and interpretation of data.
- Adhere to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguard University assets.
- Provide undergraduate and graduate medical education.
Desired Qualifications
- Specialized training in transplant hepatology after fellowship is highly desired.
- Experience working and teaching in an academic setting is highly desired.
