About the job

Requirements
  • A Master's degree in a relevant field such as robotics, computer science, artificial intelligence, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or mechatronics; a doctorate is preferred.
  • Experience developing and deploying real-robot learning systems.
  • Strong background in robotic manipulation, visuomotor learning, and robot control.
  • Familiarity with Behavior Cloning, reinforcement learning, VLA, Diffusion Policy, or other learning-based robot policy methods.
  • Familiarity with Python, C++, and PyTorch, and strong robotics and machine-learning engineering skills.
  • Experience collecting real-robot data, constructing trajectory datasets, and evaluating closed-loop policies.
  • Ability to independently design experiments, analyze failure cases, and rapidly iterate real-robot systems.
  • Deep understanding of the strengths, limitations, and complementarity of classical robotics and learning-based methods.
  • Fluent English.
Responsibilities
  • Develop learning-based visuomotor policies for humanoid and general-purpose robots, enabling end-to-end learning from environmental perception to robot actions.
  • Develop robot manipulation capabilities including grasping, carrying, object redirection, door opening, bimanual manipulation, and basic assembly.
  • Research and apply Behavior Cloning, reinforcement learning, VLA, and policy learning methods to scale robot manipulation learning.
  • Develop robust robot policies to address real-world challenges including sensor noise, partial observability, contact dynamics, and environmental variation.
  • Own the full technical workflow from real-robot data collection and dataset construction through model training, evaluation, robot deployment, and closed-loop optimization.
  • Use simulation and digital twins for large-scale training and sim-to-real transfer, with real-robot performance and deployment outcomes as the primary goals.
  • Collaborate with perception, foundation-model, planning, control, systems, and hardware teams to integrate learning-based policies into complete robot systems.
  • Research the technical boundaries and synergies between learning-based and classical robotics methods to build reliable, scalable autonomous robot capabilities.
  • Track advances in robot learning, VLA, and embodied AI, and bring new research results to deployment on real-robot platforms.
Desired Qualifications
  • Familiarity with robotics simulation platforms such as Isaac Sim, MuJoCo, or NVIDIA Omniverse.
  • Experience developing humanoid or highly dexterous robots.
  • High-quality publications in robot learning, manipulation, or embodied AI.
  • Experience leading research projects or mentoring a team.

About the company

Bosch Home Comfort makes heating, cooling and hot-water equipment for homes, commercial buildings and industrial users. Its portfolio combines electric heat pumps with gas-fired boilers and hybrid systems, giving customers different ways to control building temperatures and supply hot water. The business sells equipment through its brands' sales networks, with products adapted to regional building needs and energy requirements. Its inverter-driven heat pumps adjust compressor output to match demand rather than running constantly at full power. The Bosch business unit was formed through the merger of Bosch and Buderus heating activities in 2004 and is headquartered in Wetzlar, Germany.

Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Heat-pump researchers gain human-factors experience: Bosch's Wernau team tests how concealed fans change perceived noise.
  • Retrofits expand the addressable market: Bosch's IDS Ultra fits most existing air-to-air systems.
  • Investment funds technical work: February 2026 reporting puts Bosch Home Comfort's 2025 investment near €200 million.

What critics are saying

  • Demand remains cyclical: Bosch's February 2026 report says Germany's heating market shrank 14% in 2025.
  • Sales coordination stays fragmented: Bosch retains separate brand sales contacts and discount schemes.
  • Facilities work extends beyond normal shifts: Bosch's advertised Facility Engineer role requires responding to off-shift emergencies.

What makes Bosch Home Comfort unique

  • Regional identities stay distinct: Bosch retains Buderus and licenses the Hitachi and YORK names for its HVAC portfolio.
  • Acoustics gets specialized testing: Bosch's Wernau heat-pump laboratory measures noise with 19 microphones.
  • Cold-climate heating reaches below freezing: Bosch's IDS Ultra maintains full heating capacity at 5°F.
