Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree and two years of experience.
  • Current Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant licenses.
  • Thorough knowledge of and ability to teach any of the required Federal Aviation Administration Part 147 subjects.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work closely with faculty and students with diverse backgrounds.
  • The position requires walking and standing approximately 65% of the time, sitting approximately 20% of the time, lifting up to 50 pounds approximately 5% of the time, and stooping, forward bending, and crouching approximately 10% of the time.
  • Requires extensive use of maintenance manuals in paper and digital formats.
  • Requires the ability to verbally communicate with students, staff, and faculty.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day technical, educational, and research support activities conducted in the laboratory and resolve problems and issues as they arise.
  • Research and recommend purchases and locate parts, supplies, and research materials for facility maintenance and for students and faculty using the facility.
  • Develop and conduct orientations for students and faculty on the proper use of equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Train personnel on and enforce safety and security standards.
  • Conduct training workshops on new technology specific to the laboratory when needed.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance and repair on laboratory equipment and facilities, ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment, materials, and supplies, and perform periodic safety checks.
  • Investigate emerging technologies and make recommendations supporting teaching and learning initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of technical developments related to the curriculum, technical processes, materials, equipment, computer hardware, and computer software.
  • Establish and maintain policies regarding the safe use of facilities and equipment.
  • Assist with outreach and aviation recruitment activities.
  • Maintain accurate records and databases.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree or higher.
  • Previous teaching experience.
  • Three to five years of aviation industry maintenance experience.
  • Federal Aviation Administration Inspection Authorization.
