Requirements
  • A graduate degree (Master of Science, Doctor of Medical Physics, or Doctor of Philosophy) in medical physics or a related discipline is required.
  • At least two years of experience in clinical diagnostic radiology or nuclear medicine physics, including residency where applicable, is required.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Diagnostic Medical Physics from the American Board of Radiology is required.
  • Demonstrated organizational, project management, and written and oral communication skills are required.
  • A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check are required.
  • Successful completion of the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Fingerprint Criminal Background Check is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide physics support for a customizable selection of radiographic, fluoroscopic, computed tomography, ultrasound, mammographic, magnetic resonance, or nuclear medicine and positron emission tomography imaging modalities.
  • Provide advanced imaging clinical support.
  • Perform acceptance testing.
  • Supervise physicist assistants.
  • Oversee quality assurance.
  • Provide education and training to technologists, physicist assistants, medical residents, and physicians.
  • Support American College of Radiology accreditation.
  • Perform radiation shielding and dosimetry calculations.
  • Support clinical research.
  • Perform routine performance testing.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance safety.
  • Board eligibility in Diagnostic Medical Physics from the American Board of Radiology, with faculty appointment available after board certification.
