Requirements
  • At least 4 years of construction or industrial occupational health and safety experience.
  • At least 4 years of Microsoft Office experience.
  • A proficient understanding of Occupational Safety and Health Administration standards and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of equipment and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in controlling hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through interface with project management and supervisory personnel.
  • Assist in supervising and administering safety, first aid, and rescue squad activities, and assume total responsibility for safety operations when assigned to shift work.
  • Participate in developing and conducting employee orientation training, task-specific training, ongoing supervisor training, and project manager safety training.
  • Conduct work-area surveillance inspections, air-sampling tests for confined-space entry, property-damage investigations, and personal-injury investigations.
  • Document accidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions or activities, and issue confined-area entry and hot-work permits as required.
  • Accompany safety, health, and insurance inspections on walkthrough tours as required.
  • Review safety-related journals and catalogs to remain current on changes and improvements in protective safety equipment, materials, and gear.
  • Assist in preparing written appeals for safety-violation citations.
  • Input and retrieve data from Industry Safe management software.
  • Be responsible for the safety of Harris work and actively participate as a member of the overall project safety team.
  • Work with other project safety professionals to create a safe project environment.
  • Participate in or lead project-specific training sessions.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and maintain Harris site-specific safety plans.
  • Coordinate safety badging and substance-abuse screening.
  • Deliver safety orientations.
  • Provide guidance and expertise for mechanical-contracting safety.
  • Conduct training regarding mechanical-contracting safety for others at the project.
  • Participate in site safety audits and assessments.
  • Issue, review, and close out hot-work permits, dig permits, and pre-task-planning safety cards.
  • Participate in project meetings, including toolbox talks, subcontractor meetings, site safety committees, plan-of-the-day meetings, and foreman meetings.
  • Walk and assess the project throughout each day.
  • Spot-check pre-task plans, hot-work permits, and dig permits.
  • Participate in worker-to-worker observation exercises.
  • Provide timely incident-analysis reports for serious near misses, injuries, and property-damage incidents.
  • Support and participate in injury case management by working with the project safety team to develop and enforce a return-to-work or restricted-duty program.
  • Participate in site emergency-response and crisis-management plans.
  • Participate in mock drills.
  • Participate in and periodically lead the daily stretch-and-bend program.
  • Ensure Harris workers actively participate and are ready for work each day.
  • Participate in developing and executing Harris integrated work plans and job-hazard analyses.
  • Help develop a proactive recognition and reward system.
  • Provide monthly statistical reports for Recordable Incident Rate, Days Away, Restricted or Transferred, near-miss reporting, and hazard-recognition reporting.
  • Provide leading-indicator reports, including training completion by trade, audits and assessments completed, craft worker-to-worker observations completed, and craft hazard recognitions submitted.
  • Pick supply orders for shipment to job sites and restock supplies.
  • Maintain equipment-storage areas to protect inventory.
  • Ensure all items are stored according to fieldwork procedures and company standards.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, construction, safety, or a related field is preferred.

Harris expands into Colorado through multiple strategic acquisitions. June 2, 2026 Harris has expanded its national footprint into Colorado through the acquisition of three companies serving the region's mechanical systems, controls and building automation markets. The move establishes a strong operating base for Harris in Colorado and significantly broadens the company's presence across the Mountain West. The expansion began with the acquisition of Colorado-based temperature controls company D.R. Associates (DRA), effective May 4. Founded in Denver more than 20 years ago, DRA has built a strong reputation for delivering dependable temperature control solutions tailored to the needs of Colorado businesses. The company serves customers across industries including healthcare, manufacturing and commercial facilities. Effective June 1, Harris also acquired Climate Engineering (CEI) and Centennial Controls (CCI). CEI and CCI bring complementary expertise in mechanical systems, HVAC solutions and building automation throughout Colorado. Together, the companies have supported a wide range of commercial and industrial projects across the region, helping customers improve building performance, visibility and operational efficiency through advanced mechanical and controls solutions.
