Requirements
  • Experience in leadership, management and development of a defined team ensuring operational commitments are met and exceeded.
  • Strong liaison skills with employees, client, and internal senior managers.
  • Knowledge of health and safety requirements and ability to ensure H&S across sites and engineers.
  • On site High Voltage and Low Voltage Authorised Person status when qualified and on shift.
  • Proactive ability to check the operation of the Permit to Work system in accordance with BGIS Quality, Health & Safety procedures and client requirements, including subcontractors’ adherence to RAMS.
  • Proactive ability to check the operation of the Lockout/Tagout system in accordance with BGIS Quality, Health & Safety procedures and client requirements.
  • Ability to ensure subcontractors perform to meet contract requirements, administer subcontractor work approvals and safe operation during repairs or services on site.
  • Experience conducting annual appraisals of shift technicians (upon completion of BGIS Appraisal and Development training).
  • Awareness and compliance with contractual KPIs and SLAs.
  • Experience with Computer Based Maintenance systems (e.g., Maximo, Concept) and ensuring preventive maintenance and reactive tickets are closed with accurate data.
  • Ability to work with Area Contract Manager to maintain high service levels.
  • Experience providing technical support to engineers, helpdesk and clients.
  • Ability to investigate and report major operational incidents.
  • Experience ensuring all callouts are attended in coordination with the helpdesk.
  • Promoting health and safety culture across the team.
  • Experience assisting engineers with performing preventive maintenance and ensuring regular communication with the engineering team.
  • Ability to ensure weekly tasks are completed and assist site manager to produce delivery reports.
  • Ensuring customer service levels are maintained.
  • Experience ensuring uniforms are worn and 3rd party contract works are completed.
  • Familiarity with attending statutory works to understand how they are conducted and supply feedback.
  • Experience escalating quoted works not approved by facilities management that could have a business impact.
  • Ability to be the first point of contact for all in-hour shift issues and concerns.
  • Ability to be the first point of contact on the escalation path for all mechanical incidents.
  • Experience producing and distributing weekly reports in conjunction with Area Contract Manager.
  • Willingness to carry out any reasonable management request.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the H&S of the sites and engineers.
  • On site HV and LV Authorised Person when qualified and on Shift.
  • To proactively check the operation of the Permit to Work system in accordance with BGIS Quality, Health & Safety procedures and client requirements, especially with regards to sub-contractors adherence to RAMS.
  • To proactively check the operation of the LOTO system in accordance with BGIS Quality, Health & Safety procedures and client requirements.
  • Ensure that sub-contractors perform to meet the requirement of the contract. Administer subcontractor work approvals and safe operation while repair or service is carried out on site.
  • Undertake other tasks as defined and requested by site management.
  • To undertake annual appraisals of shift technicians once you have completed the BGIS Appraisal and Development training course.
  • Ensure an awareness and compliance to the contractual KPI’s/SLA’s.
  • Ensure the Computer Based Maintenance system, e.g. Maximo, Concept, etc is kept up to date and that PPM and reactive tickets are closed out with accurate data captured.
  • Work closely with the Area Contract Manager to ensure that the service levels are maintained to a consistently high level.
  • Support the Contract Support in achieving high levels of customer satisfaction
  • Responsible for Statutory & Code compliance of sites. Ensure engineers are fully equipped to carry out daily tasks.
  • Plan PPM schedules for sites to ensure an even workload in conjunction with the Area Contract Manager
  • Ensure PPM is carried out in accordance with manufacturer’s guidelines.
  • Responsible for the return of PPM and work related documentation. Man Management of Day Engineers and Shift team members.
  • Ensure all sites have accurate asset registers and are labelled accordingly.
  • Responsible for the fast and effective procurement of materials and services. Proactively source additional works and raise quotations.
  • Provide technical support to engineers, helpdesk and clients.
  • Investigate and report on major Operational incidents.
  • Ensure all callouts are attended to, in conjunction with the helpdesk.
  • Promote H&S culture across the whole team.
  • Assist engineers carrying out PPM where required. Ensure regular communication with engineering team.
  • Ensure weekly tasks have been completed and assist site manager to produce reports on delivery
  • Ensure customer service levels are maintained.
  • Ensure uniforms are being worn and are in good condition. Ensure all 3rd party contract works have been carried out.
  • Attend all statutory works to understand how they are conducted and supply feedback.
  • Quoted works that are not approved by FM and could have a business impact should be escalated
  • First point of contact for all in hour shift issues and concerns.
  • First point of contact on the escalation path for all mechanical incidents.
  • Responsible for the production and distribution of a weekly report in conjunction with Area Contract Manager
  • Carry out any reasonable management request.

Veritas Capital to acquire facilities manager BGIS. July 17, 2026 | John McNulty Veritas Capital has agreed to acquire BGIS from CCMP Capital Advisors and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo). BGIS runs and maintains buildings and facilities - offices, data centers, and government, healthcare, and industrial sites - for large public and private organizations, handling the engineering, operations, and technology that keep those properties running, a service known in the industry as technical integrated facilities management (IFM). The company oversees more than 65,000 facilities totaling over 620 million square feet globally with a team of more than 12,000. Gord Hicks continues as chief executive officer and will lead the business with his management team. CCMP and AIMCo had backed BGIS since 2019.
