Requirements

A master's degree in nursing or physician assistant studies is required, with an exception for certain previously employed physician assistants with a bachelor's degree.
No prior experience is required.
A valid North Carolina registered nurse and nurse midwife or nurse practitioner license, or a North Carolina physician assistant license, is required.
Board certification is required within one year of hire through the applicable certifying organization.
Basic Life Support certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association is required.
Neonatal Resuscitation Program certification is required for neonatal advanced practice providers.
Intravenous certification within 90 days of employment is required for behavioral health advanced practice providers.

Responsibilities

Perform physical assessments of patients in an outpatient setting, review medical histories, and interpret diagnostic tests and results to provide effective treatment.
Conduct preventive health screenings based on patients' ages, histories, and unique needs.
Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, treatment, and follow-up care.
Maintain records of patient care across primary care offices to ensure accurate patient histories.
Perform medical procedures in accordance with departmental guidelines and clinical roles within outpatient care settings as necessary.
Identify ways to improve outpatient care by assessing, problem-solving, and evaluating clinical and system issues.

Essential Job Function

Education

Required: Master Degree Nursing or Master Degree Physician Assistant studies. Physician Assistant employed at Cone Health prior to October 14, 2024 with a Bachelor Degree will have the Master Degree requirement waived provided they have maintained employment and PA licensure with Board Certification.
