Requirements
  • Consecutive employment in a position with comparable responsibilities within the past five years.
  • Ability to use a computer to communicate via email.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe tools.
  • A PhD in an applicable scientific field and one year of previous environmental experience, or an MS degree in an applicable scientific field and two years of previous environmental experience, or a BS degree in an applicable scientific field and five years of previous environmental experience.
  • Technical writing skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Ability to qualify for a Facility Access Authorization, also referred to as an Employment Authorization, by the U.S. Government's designated Security Office.
  • Ability to submit to and qualify for varying levels of background investigation, up to a Top Secret or Department of Energy Q clearance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to work Monday through Thursday from 6:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m., with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.
Responsibilities
  • Participate on multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Perform technical analysis and interpretation of environmental data.
  • Develop and deliver presentations to management, the Department of Energy, and environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Provide general technical support for environmental restoration activities and projects.
  • Ensure that applicable regulatory guidance, data analysis, protocols, and program requirements are accurately implemented and integrated into modeling.
  • Ensure that project team, Department of Energy, and management review comments are properly dispositioned and incorporated as applicable.
  • Assemble and maintain appropriate documentation for project files and the administrative record file.
  • Prepare presentation materials to support meetings with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
  • Participate in comment resolution meetings, scoping meetings, and other negotiations with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Environmental Protection Agency, and South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control.
  • Provide general modeling technical support for project teams and management.
  • Potentially serve in leadership roles for various projects.
  • Perform subcontract technical representative duties.
  • Mentor inexperienced engineers and scientists.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Excel, geographic information systems, computer-aided design, statistical analysis, MODFLOW, GMS, GoldSim, VZCOMML, SESOIL, Access, and Oracle databases.
  • Some flexibility is available.
  • Ability to use data analytics tools and Visio and quickly learn other business tools as necessary.
