Requirements
  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology or MRI Technologist program.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification in radiology and magnetic resonance imaging.
  • Radiologic Technologist – MRI (RT–MR) certification.
  • Radiologic Technologist – Radiography (RT–R) certification.
  • Current basic life support certification.
  • Completion of FCNY MRI Safety Training Levels 1 and 2.
  • One year of experience in diagnostic imaging.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records, radiology information systems, and picture archiving and communication systems modality software.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • A New York State Department of Health IV injection license.
  • Ability to assist with patient positioning and movement.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift light equipment as needed.
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during scanning.
Responsibilities
  • Perform MRI imaging procedures.
  • Operate the Esaote O-Scan 0.3T MRI system and follow all safety and manufacturer protocols.
  • Perform patient identification, MRI safety screening, and examination preparation.
  • Position patients and select appropriate imaging protocols.
  • Monitor patients, maintain safety in all MRI zones, and enforce 5-Gauss line restrictions.
  • Complete documentation, upload images to picture archiving and communication systems, and maintain MRI logs.
  • Perform and record daily quality control and report equipment concerns.
  • Participate in required MRI safety training and support Department of Health inspections.
  • Communicate patient concerns, abnormal findings during scanning, and safety issues immediately.
  • Participate in staff meetings and MRI safety training updates.
  • Support teaching and demonstrations for students observing MRI workflows.
  • Apply the necessary technical judgment to obtain studies of acceptable diagnostic quality according to written protocols and patient needs.
  • Provide patient education relevant to specific imaging procedures.
  • Assist the radiologist as required.
  • Maintain all patient safety questionnaires before introducing patients into the MRI scan room.
  • Attend in-service and other professional development meetings as required.
Desired Qualifications
  • Prior MRI experience, preferably with extremity MRI.
  • Documented training on the Esaote O-Scan MRI system, including the manufacturer's certificate.
  • Experience in outpatient or academic clinic settings.
  • Familiarity with picture archiving and communication systems and electronic health records.
