Arizona Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates

View

AARA provides specialty rheumatology care across Arizona, treating arthritis and autoimmune diseases through clinics, infusion services, imaging, and bone density testing. Its Rheumera app lets the care team monitor patients between visits, supporting remote care that can be billed to insurance. AARA uses a team-based model with rheumatologists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners and also runs a research wing (AARR) that conducts clinical trials to give patients access to new therapies at no cost. The goal is to deliver comprehensive, accessible rheumatology care across multiple locations while advancing the field through integrated clinical services and research.

What believers are saying

  • Lilly’s LY3541860 and tirzepatide trials keep AARA recruiting across Avondale, Mesa, Phoenix, and Tucson.
  • AARA expanded Gilbert in 2026, adding infusion and research space for rising autoimmune demand.
  • AARA’s Capitol Hill advocacy on May 8, 2025 positions it against Medicaid cuts and PBM abuse.

What critics are saying

  • Lilly trials at AARA sites commoditize patient referrals and squeeze local reimbursement leverage by 2026.
  • Arizona’s rheumatology market attracts rivals like Valley Arthritis Care and Skin and Cancer Institute.
  • One insurance denial or infusion reimbursement change hits AARA’s fee-for-service, ancillary-heavy revenue model immediately.

What makes Arizona Arthritis & Rheumatology Associates unique

  • AARA runs eight Arizona trial sites and over 400 rheumatology trials since 25 years.
  • AARA’s Avondale facility opened February 12, 2025 with 15 exam rooms and eight infusion chairs.
  • AARA’s Rheumera app and in-house infusion, lab, X-ray, and bone densitometry deepen retention.
