Requirements
  • A minimum degree-level qualification in Electrical Engineering is required.
  • At least 6 years of building services consultancy design experience is required.
  • Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office is required.
  • Proven experience delivering detailed designs through the full design cycle is required.
  • Expert knowledge and experience are required in lighting and emergency lighting, small power and data, fire alarms, CCTV and intruder alarms, medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution, containment, and building management systems.
  • Deep knowledge of building regulations is required, particularly TGD Parts B, F, G, and L, with the ability to apply this knowledge in design and project leadership.
  • The ability to work on several projects simultaneously and prioritise and plan work is required.
  • The ability to lead projects internally and externally and take responsibility for project performance, client satisfaction, profitability, and maintaining the company’s reputation is required.
  • A good understanding of other building disciplines in the design and installation of buildings is required.
  • The ability to make prompt and disciplined project decisions is required.
  • Commercial awareness is required.
  • Ongoing development of leadership, commercial, and strategic capabilities is expected.
Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of electrical and mechanical engineering projects across all stages, taking ownership of programme, quality, coordination, and overall project outcomes.
  • Undertake and oversee electrical design work from concept through construction.
  • Manage the electrical and mechanical design process to ensure deliverables meet project requirements, programme, and relevant standards.
  • Provide direction and leadership to project teams, including senior engineers and junior staff, ensuring accountability and effective performance.
  • Manage project resources and support the planning and organisation of team workload.
  • Own project cost control, budget awareness, resource utilisation, project performance, and relevant commercial and resource decisions.
  • Act as a key client contact by leading technical discussions, managing expectations, and supporting client relationships.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers and contribute to team capability building.
  • Ensure quality control across electrical engineering outputs and drive consistent technical standards across projects.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate and deliver projects efficiently.
  • Drive the implementation and adoption of new systems, technologies, and processes where appropriate.
  • Assist BIM and modelling teams in producing coordinated three-dimensional models and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Attend and lead design meetings, workshops, and site visits.
  • Travel to client and project locations when necessary to represent the company.
  • Maintain and promote the company’s industry reputation and support client relationship development and business development activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across company offices to support project delivery and business objectives.
  • Follow the Environmental Management System, including related policies, procedures, and training.
  • Perform duties in support of the company’s environmental objectives and sustainability commitments.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with thermal modelling, energy assessment, and dynamic energy modelling software is advantageous.
  • Commercial sector knowledge and building information modelling experience are strong advantages.
  • Chartership is desirable.
  • An understanding of other building disciplines in building design and installation is advantageous.
