Requirements
  • Four to five plus years in journalism, including experience writing about education.
  • Exceptional reporting, writing and editing skills with a keen focus on detail, clarity, liveliness, and accuracy; ability to translate complex information into easily digestible and actionable insights.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey messages and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Genuine passion for understanding the unique needs of students, their families and other stakeholders in higher education and to producing journalism that meets those needs.
Responsibilities
  • Content Creation: Drive trend coverage and investigations into the business of education. Transform complex topics, current events, new technologies, policies, and studies into engaging, actionable content. Create clear, engaging and original articles, including actionable tips, how-to guides, interviews, and explainers, that are relevant, authoritative and compelling.
  • List Curation: Own our flagship America’s Top Colleges list, which is based on educational and career outcomes, not reputation. Create new lists designed to reflect the changing educational landscape. (For example, Forbes’ popular New Ivies list was launched in 2024 in recognition of some employers’ growing disillusionment with graduates of the traditional Ivy League.)
  • Audience-Centric Approach: Deeply understand our target audience of those who believe college is an investment and expect Forbes to provide insight into the return on that investment. Engage with and grow this community through surveys, focus groups, and more. Analyze performance data and adapt content strategies to continuously improve audience engagement, loyalty, traffic and subscriptions.
  • Content Planning: In partnership with the Service desk head, manage a content calendar, proposing themes, topics and features that will drive readership and engagement.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other writers, the contributor network, audience development, newsletters, video, art and other teams to ensure your work has maximum impact and advances the overall editorial strategy.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in service journalism, newsletters or similar direct-to-audience content is also a plus.
  • Strong interest in innovative ways to use AI platforms to assist your workflow; explore and experiment with emerging tools and technologies.

Forbes launches ForbesPredict, a moneyless prediction platform to deepen audience engagement

Forbes has launched ForbesPredict, a moneyless prediction platform developed with Axiom, where users build profiles by logging predictions on real-world events without trading currency. The platform aims to deepen audience engagement as Forbes shifts away from traffic-based metrics towards loyalty and participation. Unlike mainstream prediction platforms such as Kalshi, ForbesPredict requires users to digest and interpret news coverage to make informed predictions, creating a record of correct and incorrect forecasts. "AI is fundamentally changing how people access information," said Nina Gould, Forbes' chief innovation officer. "Our response isn't to chase scale, but to deepen engagement." The platform will provide Forbes with insights into audience preferences whilst encouraging users to return and participate rather than simply consume headlines. Forbes maintains its readers seek information, not speculation.

Crispr: The Gene Editing Tool Changing The World (2025 Update)

Newsletter Signup - Under Article / In Page"*" indicates required fields CRISPR-Cas9 is one of the biggest discoveries of the 21st century. Since it was developed in 2012, this gene-editing tool has revolutionized biology research, making it easier to study disease and faster to discover drugs. The technology is also significantly impacting the development of crops, foods, and industrial fermentation processes. The one application that has made it famous is the modification of the human genome, which brings the promise of using CRISPR to cure diseases. Since 2012, a lot has happened and drug candidates have progressed so far that one has even reached approval. So while scientists keep venturing into tweaking our DNA, it is worth taking the time to fully understand what CRISPR is, and what the actual benefits and possibilities are.First of all, what is CRISPR-Cas9?CRISPR is short for ‘clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats.’ The term refers to a series of repetitive patterns in the DNA of bacteria and archaea that were extensively researched by Spanish scientist Francis Mojica in the ‘90s. These patterns are the basis of a primitive immune system that bacteria use to ‘remember’ the DNA of viral invaders by incorporating the DNA sequence of the virus within the CRISPR patterns. The Cas9 protein is then able to recognize the DNA sequence stored within CRISPR patterns and cut any DNA molecules with a matching sequence. But it wasn’t until 2012 that Jennifer Doudna and Emmanuelle Charpentier took the discovery a step further and proposed that CRISPR-Cas9 could be used to cut any desired DNA sequence by just providing it with the right template
