View

Caring Hands Animal Hospital offers veterinary care across six locations with a focus on the human–animal bond. Clients can stay with their pet during exams and medical treatments, visit hospitalized pets during visiting hours, and accompany their pet to treatment rooms when needed. The practice provides routine and specialized veterinary services at multiple clinics and is expanding its footprint. This client-centered approach differentiates it from some other clinics by prioritizing family presence and involvement throughout care. The goal is to deliver compassionate veterinary care that keeps families connected to their pets while growing the practice to serve more communities.

What believers are saying

  • July 2026 added Dr. Mary Frances Smith in Alexandria, expanding ophthalmology and surgery.
  • Audax’s 2025 investment funds recruiting, technology, and further hospital partnerships.
  • Eight-hospital density in Mid-Atlantic markets supports referrals, branding, and operational leverage.

What critics are saying

  • Private-equity integration can squeeze margins and alienate doctors within 12-24 months.
  • NVA, Banfield, and VetEvolve intensify recruiting, pricing, and acquisition pressure in VPP markets.
  • If associate veterinarians leave, Caring Hands loses revenue, continuity, and transaction value fast.

What makes Caring Hands Animal Hospital unique

  • Caring Hands runs eight AAHA-accredited, Fear Free hospitals across Maryland, Virginia, and D.C.
  • Audax-backed VPP scales while preserving founder-style community branding and clinician autonomy.
