Requirements
  • Proven work experience as a VP, Finance or equivalent
  • In-depth knowledge of financial benchmarking, accounting, audit and tax compliance and other regulatory matters
  • Possesses critical knowledge of federal and state tax laws as well as basic accounting issues
  • CPA preferred
  • Bachelor's degree required (finance/accounting, business, science, engineering)
  • 10+ years minimum of relevant work experience, preferably in one of the following areas: VP, Finance for biotechnology companies, management consulting, investment banking, or corporate development/operations roles within the biopharma industry
  • Expert in Excel, PowerPoint, and GoogleSuite; able to perform data analysis via Excel/Google Sheets to inform business & financial decision making
  • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization
  • Collaborative working style and demonstrated ability to build strong cross-functional relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify and solve operational gaps & inefficiencies

Responsibilities
  • Lead BigHat’s Finance function, driving budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning to ensure alignment with the Company’s strategic objectives
  • Work closely with founders and the executive team, serving as a key representative of the Finance department to internal stakeholders and to the Board of Directors
  • Oversee all accounting operations, including payables, receivables, payroll, and tax preparation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards
  • Evaluate, enhance, and implement tracking systems for revenue, expenses, and financial metrics, while establishing and maintaining robust policies, internal controls, and accounting procedures
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, providing clear guidance, accountability, and insights to align financial plans with operational and strategic goals
  • Develop, oversee, and manage the Company’s investment strategy to optimize resources and support long-term growth
  • Ensure compliance with all reporting requirements by preparing and managing timely and accurate annual, quarterly, and monthly reports
  • Support fundraising initiatives, corporate transactions, and audit processes, serving as a key financial representative during due diligence and negotiations
  • Partner with People Ops and Talent around compensation structure and execution
