Requirements
  • Registered Nurse license in the State of Michigan with an unencumbered status.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a managed care environment.
  • At least 1 year of experience working with a frail, elderly population.
Responsibilities
  • Process assigned authorizations for participant care, supplies, and related needs.
  • Enter and complete authorizations for participants seen in emergency departments or admitted to hospitals, including observation stays, with all required information such as discharge date, diagnosis, and discharge location.
  • Coordinate authorization information for participant care needs with interdisciplinary team members and ensure all required information is complete.
  • Monitor participant authorizations in the electronic medical record for accuracy and correct information in partnership with the Authorization Coordinator.
  • Assess needs and provide education to interdisciplinary team staff regarding authorization processing and management to improve compliance.
  • Recommend workflow modifications and changes to improve authorization management efficiency and quality.
  • Audit the electronic medical record, currently TruChart, for authorization status and notify individuals and leadership of trends or issues involving timeliness, error rates, and similar quality issues.
  • Assign specific tasks supporting audits and action plans to the Authorization Coordinator.
  • Present audit findings regularly and as requested to key Leadership Team members and participate in the PACE Southeast Michigan Quality Improvement Team.
