Requirements
  • A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
  • A current Texas registered nurse license.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification.
  • Ability to demonstrate leadership in delivering and improving holistic care through collaborative strategies.
  • Proficiency in using the nursing process to provide care for clients with complex nursing care needs and to guide and direct others who provide care.
  • Ability to apply the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit, team, or work-group level to improve care.
  • Ability to identify potential client problems and take appropriate nursing measures to intervene.
  • Ability to function effectively in a team leader or leadership role and use team approaches to identify, analyze, and resolve problems.
  • Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate client care consistent with accrediting and regulatory bodies, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and Nursing Service standards.
  • Ability to work effectively with clients, families or significant others, professional and support personnel, and members of other services.
  • Ability to identify ethical issues in practice and take appropriate action.
  • Ability to advocate for clients when self-determination is in question and provide accurate information regarding ethical issues.
  • Ability to collaborate with other disciplines and caregivers and use group decision-making and interdisciplinary problem solving.
  • Ability to provide assignments that reflect optimum use of staff availability.
  • Ability to avert or manage situations in a safe and therapeutic manner that meets client needs.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and tact when dealing with patients, families, and staff.
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and basic computer operations.
  • Physical capability and knowledge to initiate crisis intervention measures and perform nursing care in an emergency.
  • Understanding and proficiency with business tools and technology, including Microsoft Office.
  • Advanced proficiency with Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, data analytics tools, and Visio.
  • Ability to quickly learn other tools as necessary.
Responsibilities
