Requirements
- A Bachelor of Technology or Bachelor of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
- A postgraduate diploma or other postgraduate qualification in any specialization.
- At least 15 years of experience in the steel detailing industry, with significant related-field experience also considered.
- At least 10 years of experience in project management.
- Advanced knowledge of Tekla Structures.
- Knowledge of American Institute of Steel Construction and Canadian Institute of Steel Construction standards.
- Considerable experience working on commercial United States projects.
- Experience in structural and miscellaneous steel construction and fabrication, with the ability to read drawings.
- Project management and coordination experience.
- Experience with American Institute of Steel Construction and Canadian Institute of Steel Construction projects, including at least 5 years on such projects.
- Experience in model checking and erection checking.
- Good written and spoken communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Ensure company operational procedures run efficiently and sustainably while supporting overall business profitability.
- Supervise day-to-day managerial functions, set training standards, analyze and improve organizational processes, and improve quality, productivity, and efficiency.
- Provide leadership for the organization.
- Make policy, planning, and strategy decisions.
- Write, edit, and review operational policies and process documentation.
- Oversee reporting and planning.
- Identify and address company problems and opportunities.
- Manage projects and staff day to day to ensure quality, client standards, and schedule requirements are met.
- Schedule and coordinate training and ensure positive outcomes.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers on drawing packages and issue them to clients according to scheduled delivery dates.
- Review staffing requirements and allocate available resources to phases of new steel projects.
- Maintain workflow by observing control points, monitoring personnel resources, implementing cost reductions, and facilitating corrections to process-control malfunctions.
- Conduct periodic quality checks of drawings and models.
- Interface with personnel and department managers to ensure workflow quality.
- Review production reports for India offices.
- Review customer standards and ensure projects function properly and meet client standards.
- Lead and motivate the team to deliver strong performance.
- Conduct review meetings to inform employees about production plans, priorities, and issues requiring resolution.
- Monitor delivery quality and coordinate with project teams to ensure deliverables meet client requirements, schedules, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with department heads and senior management to resolve critical operational issues and support business continuity.
- Ensure overtime hours are not abused.
