  • A high school GED is required.
  • An associate degree is preferred.
  • One to three years of travel agency or sales experience is preferred.
  • Moderate knowledge of the organization’s operating areas, products and services, and branch operations delivery channels is desirable.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Moderate analytical and time management skills are required.
  • Knowledge and training on computer systems used to fulfill member travel requests and travel agency accounting systems is preferred.
  • General typing, Windows, Outlook, Word, and Internet/Intranet access skills are required.
  • General knowledge of Club systems, including Apollo, Viewpoint, and preferred vendor websites used to secure cruise and tour packages and travel insurance, is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Learn and develop skills to sell foreign and domestic travel-related products and services.
  • Effectively use lead management tools and resources to cultivate new business and build repeat business.
  • Advise clients on foreign and domestic travel requirements, protection plans, and related trip advisory information.
  • Learn and follow organizational policies and procedures and provide accurate transaction documentation.
  • Develop product knowledge to support the Preferred Supplier program and achieve established sales and cross-sell goals.
  • Issue international driving permits and passport photos.
  • Gain knowledge and skill to provide air, car, hotel, and rail reservations and ticketing for members and non-members.
  • Use appropriate computer systems to fulfill travel requests.
  • Track and maintain all transactions and supporting documentation accurately, including signature requirements, payment processing, and review of documents required for foreign and domestic travel.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client and member information in accordance with Federal and State laws and Club policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain expertise regarding Club products and services, member value offers, industry trends, and product knowledge to make appropriate recommendations.
  • Research and compare suppliers’ rates and make adjustments based on client needs.
  • Maintain service-quality measurements to meet or exceed branch and corporate objectives.
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities based on members’ product needs and service requests and provide sales leads to other departments as appropriate.
  • Maintain administrative requirements, including wage-and-hour compliance, expense reports, training attendance, and assigned schedules and activities.
  • Analyze cruise and tour packages and providers while working with management to develop the necessary skills.
  • Analyze client expectations to satisfy the needs of first-time and seasoned travelers.
  • Anticipate and avoid mistakes and unnecessary delays in cruise and tour service.
  • Resolve difficult situations with management assistance when required.
  • Thoroughly document files to show what was done and why decisions were made.
  • Document and explain write-offs or shortages to management.
  • May take educational trips for job knowledge.
