Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution and eligibility for an appropriate certification examination.
  • Certification through an acceptable agency, including the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), National Certification Agency (NCA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB), or HHS (HEW), when applicable.
  • An associate degree in laboratory science, chemical or biological science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution and certification as a Medical Technologist.
  • Graduation from a military program in health science, biology, chemical, physical, or medical technology and certification as a Medical Technologist.
  • Current certification as a Medical Technologist for grandfathered technologists who previously qualified on or before February 28, 1992.
  • Two years of experience in a clinical laboratory.
  • Ability to implement and perform clinical laboratory procedures according to proper standards and regulations.
  • Successful completion of a color-acuity screening test before employment.
Responsibilities
  • Perform and interpret laboratory tests in the Clinical Laboratory for the diagnosis and care of neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
