Requirements

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods.
  • Ability to effectively talk and listen to patients.
Responsibilities
  • Perform clinical procedures, including aseptic procedures, taking vital signs, preparing patients for provider care, performing venipunctures and non-intravenous injections, observing and reporting patient signs or symptoms, administering basic first aid, assisting with patient examinations or treatments, operating office medical equipment, collecting routine laboratory specimens, administering provider-directed medications except those requiring dosage calculations, and performing basic laboratory procedures.
  • Perform office procedures and general administrative duties required by the provider.
  • Act as the first-level contact for providers and support staff in troubleshooting issues.
  • Check patients in and out for clinical visits using the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Schedule follow-up appointments according to provider direction.
  • Ensure patient documentation is completed and recorded in the EMR.
  • Schedule surgical bookings.
  • Collect external third-party documentation, including laboratory results, reports, and consultations, and send it for scanning as appropriate.
  • Answer phones and check and return voicemail messages within 24 hours.
  • Respond to correspondence and tasks through email, letters, fax, and EMR communication within 48 hours.
  • Apply knowledge of Universal Precautions and National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Use all computer software required for patient care.
  • Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team within the scope of practice to provide patient care and address patient needs safely and promptly.
  • Complete required documentation, including laboratory logs, sample medication logs, refrigerator temperature logs, and reports.
  • Keep the pod clean, restock rooms as needed, and assist with ordering supplies.
  • Communicate with members of the patient care team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • One year of related work experience.
  • Certification by the American Association of Medical Assistants.
  • Registration by the American Medical Technologists.
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish or English and Navajo.
