Truveta CEO Terry Myerson announces retirement. September 15, 2026 15:00 ET | Source: Truveta BELLEVUE, Wash., Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) - After more than six years building and leading Truveta, and more than 30 years across technology, data, and healthcare, Terry Myerson today announced his decision to retire as Chief Executive Officer of Truveta. Truveta co-founders Jay Nanduri, Chief Technology Officer, and Ryan Ahern, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer, will serve as interim co-CEOs while the Truveta Board of Directors conducts a search for the company's next CEO. Together, Nanduri and Ahern bring complementary strengths across technology, clinical leadership, product strategy, customer relationships, and health system partnerships. The transition comes as Truveta enters its next phase of growth. Built with and owned by 30 leading US health systems united by a mission of Saving Lives with Data, Truveta serves healthcare, life sciences, and government organizations with industry-leading Intelligence, Data, and Evidence solutions that accelerate discovery and improve patient care. Six and a half years ago, in the earliest days of the COVID-19 pandemic, Myerson received a call from Providence CEO Rod Hochman about an urgent challenge facing healthcare: the industry needed a faster, better way to learn from data because lives depended on finding answers quickly. That conversation led to the creation of Truveta, bringing together health systems that are often competitors around a shared belief that healthcare could learn faster when organizations worked together. Under Myerson's leadership, Truveta grew from an idea into a scaled healthcare intelligence company serving leading healthcare, life sciences, and government organizations. The company created one of the nation's most comprehensive, representative, and continuously updated collections of real-world clinical data, expanded to 30 health system members, and built industry-leading Intelligence, Data, and Evidence capabilities that help researchers, clinicians, regulators, and innovators answer some of healthcare's most important questions every day. "Building Truveta has been the privilege of my career," said Myerson. "I've had the opportunity to work alongside visionary health system leaders, world-class customers and partners, and one of the most talented teams I've ever known, all united by a simple but powerful mission: Saving Lives with Data. Building a company from scratch requires extraordinary energy, commitment, and partnership. After six and a half years, I believe Truveta is in a position of strength and ready for its next chapter of leadership. While it is difficult to step away from a team I love, I do so with tremendous confidence in Truveta's future. The opportunity ahead of Truveta is greater than ever, and I look forward to watching its continued impact in the years ahead." "Terry's vision helped create an entirely new model for how healthcare learns," said Robin Damschroder, FACHE, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, and President of the Value-Based Enterprise at Henry Ford Health and Chair of the Truveta Board of Directors. "He brought together health systems that are often competitors around a shared belief that we could learn faster from data and ultimately improve the lives of patients. Under his leadership, Truveta has become a trusted source of evidence and innovation across healthcare. On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Terry for his extraordinary leadership and the foundation he has built for Truveta's next chapter." The Board has initiated a process to identify Truveta's next CEO. Additional details regarding leadership transition plans will be shared in the coming months. Truveta's strategy, mission, and commitment to serving health systems, customers, and partners remain unchanged. "Helping build Truveta over the last six years has been the single most meaningful experience of my career," said Ryan Ahern, MD, MPH, Chief Medical Officer, co-founder, and interim co-CEO of Truveta. "We've had the privilege of working alongside leading life sciences companies, academic researchers, and government organizations to advance medical discovery and improve patient care. Terry challenged us to think bigger about what healthcare could achieve if it learned faster and brought together health systems, customers, and an extraordinary team to make that vision a reality. I'm grateful for his leadership and inspired by the impact that still lies ahead." "Building Truveta has been an incredible opportunity to work on some of the hardest and most important technology challenges in healthcare," said Jay Nanduri, Chief Technology Officer, co-founder, and interim co-CEO of Truveta. "Over the last six years, we've combined advances in cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and data engineering to unlock insights from healthcare data at a scale that was previously impossible. Terry inspired us to tackle challenges others thought couldn't be solved and always pushed us to think bigger about the impact our work could have on patients. I'm deeply grateful for his leadership and proud of what we've built together." Prior to founding Truveta, Myerson spent 21 years at Microsoft, where he led Windows, Xbox, and Office 365 initiatives and served on the company's Senior Leadership Team. He later advised Madrona Venture Group and The Carlyle Group and co-founded Intersé, an early internet company acquired by Microsoft in 1997. Myerson is a graduate of Duke University and serves on the Duke Engineering Board of Visitors. About Truveta Truveta transforms healthcare into intelligence. Built with and owned by US health systems united by a mission of Saving Lives with Data, Truveta powers breakthrough discoveries, regulatory-grade evidence, and AI that improves patient care.

From fragmented records to living evidence: Health system-governed, AI-driven, continuously updated real-world clinical data from Truveta.

From fragmented records to living evidence: Health system-governed, AI-driven, continuously updated real-world clinical data from Truveta. by Truveta staff | Aug 6, 2026 Authors: Hannah A Burkhardt, PhD ⊕, Sarah J Blach, MHS ⊕, Srinivasa R Burugapalli, MS ⊕, Brianna M Cartwright, MS ⊕, Ryley Martin, BS ⊕, Michael Simonov, MD ⊕, Sarah Stewart, MD ⊕, Grace Turner, MS ⊕, Angela L Winegar, PhD ⊕, Nicholas Stucky, MD ⊕ * Truveta Data links structured and unstructured EHR data with closed claims, mortality, and social drivers of health. * Data are ingested daily, normalized to standard clinical ontologies, de-identified, and monitored through a continuous quality-control framework. * AI and natural language processing transform clinical concepts from physician notes, imaging reports, and pathology narratives into standardized variables for observational research. * The health system-governed model creates an ongoing feedback loop to improve data quality, provenance, and research utility. Real-world data (RWD) have historically suffered from fragmentation, delayed availability, variable data quality, and limited analytic utility. Truveta developed an AI-enabled data platform to address these longstanding challenges in using RWD for clinical research. This peer-reviewed paper, published in JAMIA Open, describes Truveta's partnership model, platform design, data scale, and research applications. Materials and methods. Truveta de-identifies, aggregates, and harmonizes electronic health record (EHR) data for 140 million patients - 1 in 3 Americans - from US health systems. The platform links structured and unstructured EHR content with closed claims, mortality, and social determinants of health. Data undergo daily ingestion, normalization to standard ontologies, and de-identification. Advanced artificial intelligence (AI), including natural language processing (NLP), extracts key clinical concepts from free-text notes, such as physician notes, imaging reports, and pathology narratives, transforming them into standardized variables suitable for large-scale observational research. Results. Truveta Data comprise over 130 million de-identified patient records that are updated daily and represent diverse geographic regions, care settings, and patient populations in the US. The data have supported over 100 scientific publications to date; additionally, they support health system participants' own research interests and patient care insights. Published studies have addressed treatment effectiveness, post-market device surveillance, COVID-19 vaccine safety, and health equity. Discussion. Truveta addresses critical barriers that have hindered the realization of a learning health system. Unlike prior RWD initiatives limited by scope, latency, and vendor dependence, Truveta enables near-real-time, population-scale research grounded in rich clinical data. Its governance model ensures alignment with ethical, privacy, and regulatory standards. By rethinking the role of health systems from passive suppliers into active, incentivized partners, Truveta creates an unprecedented virtuous cycle of data quality and continuous improvement. Conclusion. Truveta represents a paradigm shift in real-world evidence generation. By aligning incentives and AI driven harmonization, it provides a scalable, sustainable infrastructure for continuously updated clinical data. Providing large-scale, high-fidelity EHR data and daily updates, the platform accelerates clinical discovery, policy and public health decision-making, and improved patient outcomes.

Truveta AI model extracts cancer staging data from 2M+ clinical notes with high precision

Truveta has published research in JCO Clinical Cancer Informatics showing how large language models can extract cancer staging information from unstructured clinical notes with high precision and at scale. The study focused on Truveta Language Model for Oncology (TLM-Oncology), an AI model designed to unlock critical oncology data from clinical documentation. The model analysed over 2 million clinical notes and extracted more than 2.7 million staging records representing over 217,000 patients across bladder, breast, cervical, colorectal, and prostate cancers. Cancer staging information is often captured in free-text physician notes and pathology reports rather than structured electronic health record fields, making it difficult to access for research purposes. The research demonstrates how AI can transform complex clinical documentation into research-ready data by combining clinical expertise with advanced language models and scalable engineering infrastructure.
