Requirements
  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations, standards and codes of practice applicable to construction activities.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments and hazard identification analyses for construction activities, equipment and materials; develop and implement control measures; provide guidance on safe work practices.
Responsibilities
  • Compliance Assurance: Ensure compliance with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, standards, and codes of practice applicable to construction activities. Conduct regular inspections and audits to assess site compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and permits. Identify areas of non-compliance and work collaboratively with site management to implement corrective actions.
  • Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct risk assessments and hazard identification analyses for construction activities, equipment, and materials. Develop and implement control measures to mitigate identified risks and hazards. Provide guidance to site personnel on safe work practices and procedures to minimize the likelihood of accidents and injuries.
  • HSE Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver HSE training programs for site personnel, including contractors and subcontractors, to increase awareness and understanding of HSE requirements. Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and other forums to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship. Monitor the effectiveness of training initiatives and revise programs as needed to address emerging risks or gaps.
  • Incident Investigation and Reporting: Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and environmental spills to determine root causes and contributing factors. Compile incident reports detailing findings, lessons learned, and recommendations for corrective and preventive actions. Liaise with relevant stakeholders, including regulatory authorities, to ensure timely reporting and resolution of incidents.
  • Emergency Preparedness and Response: Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures tailored to construction site-specific hazards and scenarios. Conduct emergency drills and simulations to evaluate the readiness of site personnel to respond effectively to emergencies. Coordinate with emergency services and other external stakeholders to enhance emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
  • Environmental Management: Monitor construction activities to prevent pollution, minimize environmental impact, and preserve natural resources. Implement measures to manage and control waste generation, disposal, and recycling in accordance with environmental regulations and best practices. Collaborate with environmental consultants and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental permits and requirements.
  • Document Preparation: Organize and prepare complex documents using a variety of applications for technology devices, such as standard office software. Also responsible for gathering and summarizing data for special reports.
  • Insights and Reporting: Contribute to the preparation of various data and analytics reports.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Collate and analyze data using preset tools, methods, and formats. Involves working independently.
  • Information and Business Advice: Resolve queries from internal or external customers or suppliers by providing information on complex processes and the related policies, referring issues to others where necessary for interpretation of policy.
  • Internal Communications: Help others get the most out of internal communications systems by offering support and advice.
  • Regulatory and Compliance Management: Investigate all kinds of incidents and reports and provide expert advice to more senior colleagues. Minimize risk exposures and ensure adherence with regulatory standards by working with all internal functions to make sure compliance programs are properly implemented.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace. Identify patterns of risky behavior within the team and take appropriate action to resolve them, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Audit Compliance: Deliver audit assignments in nominated client areas. Develop individual audit plans and detailed scope, deliver the fieldwork, report findings and opinions, agree on corrective actions with auditees, and refer serious or contentious issues to the lead auditor.
Desired Qualifications
  • External professional accreditation relevant to health, safety, and environment.
  • Experience delivering audit assignments or conducting audits for clients.
  • Experience in incident investigation and regulatory reporting with regulators as part of practices (where relevant).
