Requirements
  • Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Applicants must have six months or more of relevant work experience in sales, retail, reception, customer service, or a similar area.
  • Applicants must have strong customer service skills and be able to respond to multiple questions by phone, email, and in person.
  • Applicants must have basic computer skills.
  • Employees must adhere to abuse prevention policies, maintain appropriate boundaries, complete required training, report suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and comply with mandated reporting requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Develop positive relationships by providing prompt and courteous service to members, participants, and guests.
  • Conduct membership interviews, enroll new members, and provide motivational support and guidance.
  • Process member applications, including performing data entry.
  • Assist members and participants with program registration and answer inquiries, including member concerns.
  • Provide information on YMCA membership and programs and refer members to programs or staff based on their goals and interests.
  • Perform routine duties such as changing or handing out towels, checking locker rooms, handing out locker keys, and cleaning equipment.
  • Balance and complete reports for financial transactions.
  • Control access to the facility when assigned.
  • Open or close the facility when assigned.
  • Support member engagement and retention activities of the branch.
  • Provide guidance and support for assigned at-risk members and accurately maintain related records.
  • Follow up with prospects who have not joined when assigned.
  • Follow up on new-member survey feedback when assigned.
  • Attend required staff meetings and trainings.
Desired Qualifications
  • Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations, including differences in language, culture, race, physical ability, and sexual orientation.
  • Ability to speak any language in addition to English.
