Requirements
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree, or additional experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-by-year basis.
  • Six years of progressively responsible experience, including three years managing employees.
  • Advanced knowledge of health and human services systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and recovery-oriented principles.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory concepts, coaching, and current leadership development trends.
  • Strong meeting facilitation skills.
  • Ability to develop and deliver curricula in a variety of modalities.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret complex policies and procedures integral to the assigned program or project.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and initiate actions necessary to implement group decisions, organizational development, and administrative activities.
  • Ability to travel within California, primarily Southern California, and to national conferences when applicable.
  • Ability to write clear, concise correspondence and communicate effectively with a wide variety of contacts.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, organize, and direct Leaders in Action and Southern Area Consortium of Human Services program activities.
  • Share evaluation data and participant feedback with Leaders in Action trainers.
  • Support and liaise with Leaders in Action participants to ensure their learning goals are met.
  • Collaborate with Academy staff providing program coordination, administrative support, research, and evaluation.
  • Assist participants with capstone projects and facilitate the Mock Board presentation day.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Dean of the College of Health and Human Services on potential program expansion.
  • Ensure the training curriculum meets accessibility standards.
  • Establish and monitor progress toward program goals and priorities.
  • Develop and implement program management and training tracking systems.
  • Develop, monitor, and track program budgets and expenditures.
  • Develop and administer program policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate and enhance program goals and objectives.
  • Direct and manage ongoing training needs assessments.
  • Deliver presentations and write annual program reports.
  • Develop executive development curriculum based on health and human services issues, leadership research and practice, and director recommendations.
  • Determine leadership course topics and their sequence based on identified needs.
  • Recruit and develop trainers and facilitators for leadership development topics.
  • Coordinate with trainers, coaches, facilitators, and subject matter experts to ensure stakeholder needs are met.
  • Coordinate with Fiscal, Facilities, and Systems teams on trainer contracts, training locations, and training-day operations.
  • Provide coaching and training to Academy leaders to support practice integration and systems change.
  • Partner with the People Development Strategy Team to develop learning experiences for Academy leaders.
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual training sessions, including introductions, consultation, time management, and feedback.
  • Train or co-train leadership development topics when needed.
  • Coach participants on executive leadership and oversee staff or external providers coaching participants.
  • Provide direction, consultation, and training to the SACHS/LIA Executive Administrator.
  • Provide feedback to the Academy Executive Director regarding the Executive Administrator's job performance.
  • Coordinate SACHS subcommittees and promote communication between subcommittees and directors.
  • Facilitate the SACHS workgroup on reducing disparities.
  • Develop quarterly meeting agendas and prepare the SACHS Chair or Vice Chair for facilitation.
  • Co-facilitate quarterly in-person and virtual SACHS meetings.
  • Capture meeting notes, distribute them to directors, and follow up on action items.
  • Communicate with SACHS directors between meetings about time-sensitive issues and requests.
  • Interface with state agencies, county directors, schools of social work, and external service providers.
  • Manage politically sensitive issues among key stakeholders.
  • Participate in the Academy Shared Leadership Team, including strategic planning and organizational decision-making.
  • Travel to off-site locations for Academy and program meetings and perform other assigned duties.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in public health, social work, human services, or a related field.
  • Six years of experience in health and human services, public administration, or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in health and human services executive leadership.
  • Three years of experience providing training or coaching.
  • A master's degree may substitute for up to two years of experience.
  • Two years of experience developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs.
  • Experience using multiple training modalities, including virtual training.
  • Two years of experience working with diversity, inclusion, or equity programs or initiatives.
