Responsibilities

Developing and shipping a project and verifying that it works in production
Shipping code and monitoring the deployment of work
Collaborating with a mentor and manager to spec a project that will best contribute to the team
Meeting with an engineering mentor on a regular basis and receiving feedback
Attending events with other Affirmers and presenting work to the engineering organization at the end of the internship

We’re excited to launch this brand new hybrid office Intern program for computer science or related majors. The program will kick off in May 2024.
Choose one of our offices— New York City or San Francisco—to work out of and participate in our direct mentorship program. Please apply to only one city to streamline the process so provide each candidate with the best consideration.
This program requires you to work out of the office for three days a week—Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday—to collaborate with your team, early career Affirmers, and your engineering mentor. You’ll experience the best of both worlds: the in-office experience and remote work.
You’ll be paired with an engineering mentor who you’ll work alongside and meet with weekly.

What You’ll Do

Interns are responsible for developing and shipping a project and verifying that it works in production. Because things are changing fast at Affirm, we do not specify intern projects in advance, instead you will collaborate with your mentor and manager when you start to spec a project that will best contribute to your team.

This role will ship code and monitor the deployment of your work. Our intern projects are not isolated or intended to be thrown away: your team will depend on your contributions!
We pair interns with a dedicated mentor who will be by your side to give advice and ensure the success of your project. Expect to meet with them on a regular basis and receive feedback.
There are opportunities to attend events with other Affirmers! Past events have included themed lunches, and executive fireside chats.
Interns present their work to the engineering organization at the end of the internship.

What We Look For:

Experience with one of the following languages: Python, C/C++, Java, Kotlin, Javascript, reactJS and/or similar languages

Compensation is a set amount for the Intern role with no range.

USA hourly base pay: $55.00

USA monthly base pay: $9,500
