Requirements
  • Hold a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Hold a conditional occupational therapy license in the state of Ohio.
  • Be cleared through the National Database of Practitioners.
  • Typically have one to two years of experience working in a medical setting; this experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
  • Assess patients and establish plans of care with the rehabilitation team.
  • Provide a wide variety of occupational therapy treatment techniques.
  • Provide education and support to families.
  • Facilitate continuing care planning.
  • Evaluate the quality of services and participate in outcomes management activities.
  • Provide specialized treatments that help patients explore and identify productive avocational interests.
  • Assess patient interests and introduce methods for exploring post-discharge resources, including internet use, identifying local organizations, and inquiring about resources.
  • Expose patients to local organizations and provide educational material to maximize post-discharge planning.
  • Serve as the contact for the community link and act as a liaison for patients, staff, and consumers of Rehabilitation Services.
  • Coordinate services and programs with physicians, nurses, support staff, Patient Care Resource Managers, and other participants in patient care activities.
