About the company

SAB Biotherapeutics uses the DiversitAb platform to produce fully human polyclonal antibodies in genetically engineered transchromosomic cattle, removing the need for human donors. These antibodies are designed to treat immunology disorders and infectious diseases and include programs like SAB-142 for Type 1 Diabetes, SAB-176 for severe influenza, and SAB-195 for C. difficile infection. The platform can shorten development timelines, aiming to move candidates from concept to clinic in under five months, and it focuses on polyclonal antibodies rather than monoclonal ones. The company pursues regulatory approval and commercialization through collaborations with government agencies, academia, and pharmaceutical partners to address high-need diseases and biodefense applications.

What believers are saying

  • Over 60 SAFEGUARD sites were active by August 2026, accelerating enrollment.
  • Part A completed in Q1 2026, and Part B targets 159 patients.
  • SAB still expects runway through 2028, reducing near-term financing risk.

What critics are saying

  • SAB burned through another $85 million in March 2026, signaling relentless dilution pressure.
  • SAFEGUARD data arrive in 2H 2027; any efficacy miss destroys the T1D story.
  • One-program dependence makes SAB existentially fragile if SAB-142 fails or FDA demands a new trial.

What makes SAB unique

  • SAB BIO's Tc cattle platform generates fully human polyclonal antibodies without human donors.
  • SAB-142 entered registrational Phase 2b SAFEGUARD in March 2026, de-risking the lead program.
  • Sanofi joined SAB's July 2025 $175 million financing, validating the platform commercially.
