Job Description
Block’s People Analytics team provides actionable insights and research-backed recommendations that drive better people decisions across Block. Our Analytics Business Partnership group works as internal consultants, providing evidence-based assessment, diagnostics, and strategic advising to leaders and partners throughout our People team. We’re looking for a data-driven internal consultant with expertise in quantitative analysis and organizational science. You should excel in translating complex data into actionable strategies and facilitating collaboration between technical and non-technical teams to enhance data-focused practices in our People operations. You will report to the Head of Strategic People Research & Analytics Partnerships.
You Will:
Strategic Consulting
- Be an internal consultant, translating client teams’ business needs into metrics and analytics projects in collaboration with the Strategic People Research & Data Science and People Analytics Platform teams.
- Engage with client teams to understand and prioritize strategic goals, ensuring alignment with People Analytics (PA) roadmap decisions.
Analytics and Data Management
- Use statistical analysis and related tools (e.g., R, Python) to drive analytics and recommendations based on data from SQL, People systems (e.g., HRIS, ATS), and self-service BI and analytics tools.
- Respond to complex inbound PA JIRA requests from client teams.
- Collaborate to automate or streamline data collection processes, enhancing operating efficiencies.
- Work on special projects supporting People team priorities.
Stakeholder and Project Management
- Manage people analytics projects, balancing business impact with project prioritization.
- Be a liaison between the BU and central PA team, ensuring seamless communication and project execution.
Communication
- Deliver analytical results to diverse audiences, explaining statistical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Promote the adoption of centralized PA tools among client teams.
Qualifications
You Have:
- 5+ years’ experience as an internal or external consultant or analyst focused on generating and communicating evidence-based recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.
- 1-2+ years experience in data gathering and interpretation, with proficiency in moderately complex statistical analysis.
- 2+ years experience in an analytics role working with large data sets, with a background in analytics, management consulting, sales operations, finance, compensation, or related fields.
- Project management experience, engaging directly with enterprise-level clients and stakeholders.
- Highly proficient skills in SQL, data visualization tools, and Excel or Google Sheets.
Even Better:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree and 5 years’ relevant experience in People Analytics., Master’s degree and 3 years’ relevant experience, a PhD, or equivalent work experience in a field emphasizing organizational science and quantitative analysis (e.g., org psychology or behavior, economics, statistics, public policy).
- Experience with statistical analysis and relevant software/programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, SAS, Stata)
- Experience with analysis, research, or consulting on employee assessment, selection, or related topics
- Experience working with data from People tech platforms—e.g., HRIS, ATS, workforce analytics tools.
- Experience in the tech or finance industry.
