Requirements
  • Demonstrated command of tier-one regulatory regimes, including CySEC, FCA, NFA, and ASIC, and offshore or emerging-market frameworks including the United Arab Emirates, Mauritius, Seychelles, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Cambodia.
  • Working knowledge of MiCA and global crypto licensing regimes.
  • Direct regulator engagement experience, including managing inquiries, coordinating responses, and representing a group's compliance posture across jurisdictions.
  • Ability to support acquisition structuring and entity integration from a compliance perspective, assess regulatory exposure, coordinate with external counsel, and manage parallel licensing processes.
  • Experience deploying artificial intelligence tooling in legal workflows, including document retrieval, contract review acceleration, and risk monitoring, is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to set standards, delegate effectively, and hold a team accountable for throughput across contract and compliance functions.
Responsibilities
  • Establish a structured group-wide compliance reporting framework covering all regulated entities, including reporting lines, cadences, and escalation paths.
  • Deliver a searchable, indexed, and cross-referenced legal document repository structured for artificial intelligence-assisted retrieval.
  • Define and operationalize service-level agreements for internal legal workflows, including 24-hour standard contract reviews, 48-hour new contract drafting, and agreed timelines for policy creation.
  • Implement risk monitoring tools across all business verticals and target markets to provide ongoing visibility of regulatory and legal risk exposure.
  • Own delivery against the active regulatory and mergers and acquisitions programme, including the South African broker-dealer acquisition, the VARA application and licence, MiCA passporting for the Norwegian crypto exchange, and acquisition targets in Latin America and Southeast Asia.
  • Manage inbound and outbound legal and compliance communications across all group entities, ensuring consistency, appropriate escalation, and clear audit trails.
  • Monitor online brand exposure and regulatory risk signals across all business verticals and target markets.
  • Research new and existing jurisdictions, tracking legislative developments, regulatory guidance, and enforcement trends across foreign exchange, contracts for difference, crypto, prediction markets, proprietary trading, and education.
  • Work with Operations and Information Technology to design, implement, and maintain compliance reporting systems and dashboards.
  • Audit existing agreements across all entities, maintain the artificial intelligence-enabled document repository, and ensure contracts are indexed, cross-referenced, and accessible.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regulators across all jurisdictions, prepare responses, manage ongoing dialogue, and coordinate regulator meetings and visits.
  • Define and enforce contract throughput standards and hold the Group Paralegal and compliance staff accountable for delivery; personally handle high-stakes, novel, or regulator-facing agreements.
  • Lead the compliance function, including the Group Paralegal and compliance personnel embedded across the group.
