  • A current Florida Dietitian/Nutritionist (LDN) license.
  • Registration as a Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition.
  • Board certification in a relevant specialty, such as Certified Specialist in Oncology Nutrition (CSO) or Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC).
  • At least 5 years of experience as a Registered Dietitian in a healthcare setting.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.

Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' nutritional needs and develop and implement nutritional care plans.
  • Document patients' nutritional status and needs using established standards of care and practice guidelines.
  • Coordinate patients' medical and nutritional needs with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
  • Initiate and follow patients for nutrient intake analysis and recommend continuation, progression, or initiation of alternate therapies.
  • Write or change orders for diets, supplements, enteral or parenteral nutrition, and laboratory data according to hospital policy.
  • Counsel and educate patients and their families about medical nutrition therapy and drug-nutrient interactions.
  • Serve as a clinical nutrition resource and subject matter expert to physicians, patients, and staff.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with federal, state, and accrediting agencies.
  • Provide nutrition services and medical nutrition therapy aligned with cancer patients' medical goals and recommend therapy based on diagnosis, disease stage, and nutritional status.
  • Work with Cancer Survivorship and Supportive Care Services, including Exercise Physiology, Yoga Therapy, Massage Therapy, and other disciplines.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to less experienced staff and serve as a knowledge resource for patient nutrition in oncology.
  • Support innovation in practice, mentor peers, and contribute to clinical guidelines, training, and quality improvement efforts.
  • Create and revise education materials for patients and staff about disease management through medical nutrition therapy.
  • Lead program development and quality improvement projects to enhance patient care, acting on quality improvement data and plans.
  • Participate in professional growth activities, learning opportunities, conferences, and seminars on nutrition and related topics.
  • Participate in clinical research opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve nutrition programs and recommend improvements.
  • Lead workshops and support groups for patients and caregivers.
  • Complete reports for ongoing productivity tracking.
  • Support oversight and training of new dietitians, dietetic interns, and dietetic technicians in assigned areas, and ensure evidence-based guidelines are integrated into clinical practice.
  • Develop and contribute to Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center education programs for physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, students, peers, and the community.
  • Represent the institution in oncology nutrition matters and provide clinicians with in-service education on nutritional topics.
  • Conduct nutrient intake assessments and follow-ups; screen and assess patients for nutritional deficiencies and malnutrition; adjust diet or nutrition support orders as indicated; evaluate fluids and electrolytes; review laboratory results and clinical progress notes; inform physicians of nutritional status and feeding needs; and develop care plans, documentation, and reassessments.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement activities and training.
  • Serve as the primary nutrition lead for an assigned oncology subspecialty and support team members in related clinical decision-making.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary discussions, tumor boards, and complex case reviews related to the assigned specialty.
  • Coordinate or contribute to at least one annual training or educational session for clinical staff on advanced oncology nutrition topics.
  • Collaborate on creating or revising nutrition practice guidelines, clinical protocols, or patient education materials for the subspecialty.
  • Support periodic peer chart audits to assess documentation quality, promote consistency, and support clinical improvement.
  • Lead or co-lead quality improvement initiatives and outcomes tracking related to specialty service areas.
  • Mentor or precept dietitians pursuing specialty certification or advanced practice competencies and support professional development through knowledge sharing.
