Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree is required, preferably in engineering.
  • At least 5 years of professional work experience, including at least 2 years in manufacturing operations and 2 years in continuous improvement or lean manufacturing.
  • At least 2 years of proven experience providing indirect leadership and influencing an organization to drive Lean Transformation.
  • A Green Belt Six Sigma certification or a Lean Certification in Value Stream Mapping and Standard Work is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Lean tools and concepts, including Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen facilitation, Single-Minute Exchange of Die, 5S, standard work, takt time, flow, and pull systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience using A3 or similar methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and coaching skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint, as well as internet software and email.
  • Proficiency in Visio or similar software for creating Value Stream Maps and Process Maps.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar software for creating or modifying site layouts.
Responsibilities
  • Own the Lean Transformation Journey for one engineered-to-order and configured-to-order value stream at the San Antonio Chillers manufacturing site.
  • Assess current-state performance, identify gaps, establish a future-state plan, monitor progress, and share or acquire best-in-class ideas and systems.
  • Define, design, and implement process improvements as part of the Johnson Controls Business System, ensuring vertical and horizontal organizational integration and alignment.
  • Define improvement projects aligned with business strategies and priorities.
  • Facilitate and coach improvement teams.
  • Identify gaps in business metrics and work with all levels of the plant to establish and execute improvement strategies.
  • Use Value Stream Mapping and root-cause problem-solving tools, including A3, 5 Whys, and Fishbone Diagrams, to assess operations, develop a future-state vision, and drive and monitor implementation.
  • Develop Lean capability across the value stream by coaching Focus Factory staff, front-line leaders, and associates in Johnson Controls Business System principles.
  • Ensure implementation and sustainment of the Daily Management system for the respective value stream.
  • Perform time studies to rebalance operations and eliminate waste.
  • Use 3P to create flow at the site within the designated value stream.
  • Modify and update physical and digital layouts during site transformation.
  • Ensure process-owner involvement in software development and team leadership.
  • Use Kaizen funnel tracking and reporting systems to prepare detailed plans, drive project performance, and ensure timely completion and achievement of transformation and continuous-improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop a plant Lean Transformation Roadmap and drive breakthrough or best-in-class performance across internal plant-efficiency and external customer-focused effectiveness projects.
  • Partner with Process Owners to identify systemic barriers to project success and drive organizational, process, and behavioral changes to remove them.
  • Document improvement-process learning and share best practices throughout the North American Chillers Business plants and Johnson Controls.
  • Identify and bring forward new project opportunities to the Champion.
  • Partner with the Focus Factory Manager on strategic initiatives that strengthen standards compliance, accelerate deployment of new systems, and shape sustainable operational-excellence solutions.
  • Deliver Focus Factory and plant annual goals.
  • Drive safety performance in the plant.
  • Adhere to the company's Code of Conduct and Business Ethics standards.
  • Perform other assigned tasks.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual ability in English and Spanish.
  • Two years of experience in Shinguijutsu events.
  • Experience working in an environment with a robust Continuous Improvement Business System.

Johnson Controls has acquired Nantum AI, a New York-based developer of AI algorithms for building energy efficiency, to enhance its OpenBlue digital ecosystem. The deal adds advanced AI-driven control capabilities for optimising HVAC systems and reducing energy consumption. Nantum AI's technology enables real-time optimisation of building airflow based on occupancy, extending OpenBlue's capabilities beyond central HVAC systems to include granular, system-wide control. The company has demonstrated energy savings exceeding 10% for customers by leveraging data from occupancy patterns, weather conditions and utility trends. Ring Capital joins Enerin's Series A to decarbonise high-temperature industrial heat

Enerin, a Norwegian industrial heat pump technology company, has completed the third tranche of its Series A round, adding Paris-based Ring Capital to its investor consortium. The round includes Climentum Capital, The Footprint Firm, Johnson Controls, Move Energy, PSV Hafnium and Momentum. The company's HoegTemp system delivers thermal energy at temperatures up to 250°C, targeting the industrial heat segment responsible for over 20% of global CO2 emissions. Each installation avoids approximately 36,000 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over its lifetime by replacing fossil-fuel boilers. Enerin is transitioning from development to serial production, with three active pilots and a recent contract with Roche. The funding will scale manufacturing operations and accelerate product development. CEO Arne Høeg said Ring Capital's involvement strengthens the company's ability to deploy solutions across Europe.

Insteel reports fastest revenue growth among building products stocks despite missing Q4 estimates

Insteel reported Q4 revenues of $159.9 million, up 23.3% year on year, but missed analysts' expectations by 1.3%. The steel wire reinforcing products manufacturer delivered mixed results, beating earnings per share estimates whilst falling short on revenue. Despite achieving the fastest revenue growth among the five commercial building products stocks tracked, Insteel recorded the weakest quarterly performance in the sector. The group collectively beat consensus revenue estimates by 1.2% and saw share prices rise 3.4% on average since earnings. Johnson Controls led the sector with revenues of $5.80 billion, up 6.8% year on year and exceeding expectations by 2.8%. Insteel's stock has risen 3.6% since reporting and currently trades at $34.90.

Johnson Controls to acquire Alloy Enterprises, boosting data center cooling efficiency by up to 35%

Johnson Controls has signed an agreement to acquire Alloy Enterprises, a Boston-based thermal management technology company, to strengthen its position in the data centre cooling market. Financial terms were not disclosed. Founded in 2020, Alloy Enterprises specialises in advanced direct liquid cooling components that can improve thermal management efficiency by up to 35% and reduce pressure drop by up to 75%, resulting in lower overall cooling system energy use. The company's proprietary Stack Forging manufacturing process creates single-piece components with embedded microgeometries for maximum heat transfer. The acquisition complements Johnson Controls' existing thermal management portfolio and aligns with its strategy to deliver differentiated cooling solutions for AI-driven data centres. The transaction is expected to close in fiscal Q3, subject to regulatory approvals.
