ESAB launches ROBBI AI cobot that makes real-time MIG and TIG welding decisions

ESAB has launched ROBBI AI, a cobot system that uses physical artificial intelligence (AI) to sense and respond to real-world conditions in MIG and TIG welding. Camera and laser sensing let it assess the joint, make decisions in real time, and adjust motion and welding parameters as conditions change. The system generates its own weld path, so operators do not need to teach one by hand. They position it near the joint, enter the welding procedure parameters, and start the weld. ROBBI AI learns from completed welds and can stop welding if it detects a condition that could cause a defect. Processing happens on a computer at the customer's site, not in the cloud. It targets low-volume, high-mix work, pipe fabrication, and TIG welding, where skilled welders are hard to find.

ESAB raises 2026 outlook to $3B-$3.1B after closing Eddyfi acquisition ahead of schedule

ESAB Corporation reported record total core sales and adjusted EBITDA in Q2 2026, driven by double-digit growth in automation and equipment. The company successfully transformed its portfolio mix, with equipment now comprising over 50% of revenue, up from 38% historically, expanding gross margins by approximately 500 basis points. ESAB closed the Eddyfi acquisition ahead of schedule, positioning itself as a global leader in inspection and monitoring technologies. The company raised its full-year 2026 outlook to $3bn–$3.1bn in total core sales, assuming organic growth of 2%–4%. The Middle East operations, representing 7%–8% of total business, saw volumes decline 10%–11% due to regional conflict. ESAB experienced transitory margin pressure from increased logistics and commodity costs, which management expects to address through pricing and cost-reduction activities. Eddyfi is anticipated to be dilutive to neutral in Q4 2026 before becoming accretive in 2027.
