Requirements
  • B.S. degree in Civil or Structural engineering required
  • Master's degree in structural engineering preferred
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer required
  • 10+ years of experience in the structural design of buildings or similar structures
  • Ability to perform and oversee structural analysis, design, and detailing on commercial building projects including complex gravity and lateral systems
  • Experience with computer analysis software systems
  • Excellent leadership, supervisory, and writing and verbal communication skills
  • Experience collaborating with architect, owner, and contractor to provide well-coordinated structural drawings
  • Ability to build and maintain a strong team of professionals and support staff
  • Design experience with steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and light gauge steel and associated design standards
  • Ability to manage scope, schedule and profitability of projects and maintain client relationships
  • Understanding construction realities and ability to propose practical, buildable solutions
  • P.E. licensure required (SE license preferred)
  • Candidates not licensed as SE will be expected to pursue and pass SE exam within an agreed timeframe
Responsibilities
  • Lead structural design for commercial building projects from early design through construction
  • Develop and review analysis models and design documents
  • Coordinate with architects, owners, and contractors
  • Provide clear, timely construction administration support
  • Mentor junior staff
  • Help strengthen client relationships through reliable execution and collaborative teamwork
  • Manage scope, schedule, and profitability of projects and maintain working relationship with clients
  • Propose practical, buildable solutions considering construction realities
  • Perform and oversee structural analysis, design, and detailing on a variety of projects including complex gravity and lateral systems
  • Review construction documents and provide QA/QC oversight of drawings and specifications
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams
  • Lead marketing/business development activities including proposal writing and contact negotiations
  • Deliver well-coordinated and high-quality drawings
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in structural engineering preferred
  • Licensed Structural Engineer (SE) preferred
  • SE exam within timeframe if not licensed as SE
  • Experience with multiple materials including steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and light gauge steel
  • Experience leading projects in Spokane or Pacific Northwest region
