Requirements
- A high school diploma or GED is required.
- Current certification as a medical assistant through an accepted certifying organization is required, including American Medical Technologists, American Association of Medical Assistants, National Healthcare Association, National Association of Healthcare Professionals, Medical Career Assessments, National Center for Competency Testing, or National Association for Health Professionals.
- Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association is required.
Responsibilities
- Assist providers with giving medical care to patients.
- Assist with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
- Interview patients and ask about their chief complaint.
- Measure and record patients' vital signs, including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
- Record or input patient information into the medical record.
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
- Perform multi-skilled activities under the direct supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse to support patient-centered care and achieve desired outcomes.
Desired Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited medical assisting program with one year of patient care experience is preferred.
