Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED program.
  • Four years of job-related experience, or 60 hours of college, or a combination of the two.
  • Ability to type 35 words per minute or 70 keystrokes per minute.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and standard word-processing software.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions, organize and process work, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with County employees and the general public.
  • Ability to work with juveniles who may have committed dangerous or aggressive acts and tolerate an emotionally demanding and stressful work environment.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods and lift and carry up to 25 pounds unassisted.
  • Candidates for clerical, administrative, and secretarial positions must pass one or more position-specific skills tests, which may include 10-key, coding, data entry, filing, grammar, mathematics, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, proofreading, spelling, sorting, or timed typing.
Responsibilities
  • Perform complex support tasks for judges, managers, or supervisors, including preparing, processing, and reconciling documents and records.
  • Research and resolve problems and issues and interact effectively with the public.
  • Balance and monitor accounts as assigned.
  • Act as a subject matter expert and team leader by developing policies and procedures, coordinating and monitoring tasks, updating and training staff on policies and procedures, and preparing training materials and aids.
  • Prepare routine correspondence, complete forms and documents, and serve as a liaison to other departments and the public.
  • Research, compile, and analyze data to respond to inquiries, problems, issues, and exceptions and resolve discrepancies.
  • Collect, input, and reconcile data, funds, or inventories and prepare reports.
  • Verify the accuracy of information, policies, procedures, and accounts to ensure compliance with applicable County, State, and Federal statutes.
  • Use department-specific and county-wide computer systems for data input, retrieval, purchasing, inventory, and related functions.
  • Provide routine computer support, including accessing data, ordering supplies, maintaining inventory, generating and maintaining reports and schedules, training clerical staff on computer applications, resolving routine problems, and coordinating with Information Technology services.
  • Monitor changes in laws, policies, and procedures that affect the section and review section materials to ensure those changes are reflected.
  • Assist with employee-related issues, including participating in interviews, maintaining time and attendance data, reconciling payroll issues, coordinating leave activities, and ensuring employees receive appropriate training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
