Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One to five years of experience in a lead role in manufacturing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize the company’s enterprise resource planning system and ensure subordinates are properly trained to use it.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions, specifications, reference materials, and technical information.
  • Ability to operate the equipment and instruments necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Ability to work in a factory environment with exposure to extreme weather, noise, dust, dirt, and motorized-equipment safety hazards.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and regularly walk, sit, lift, reach, and bend.
  • Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures, proper lifting techniques, and personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Ability to work extended hours and overtime as business needs require.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise the manufacturing process and staff, and organize and monitor workflow to achieve production goals.
  • Complete the production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel, establishing priorities, monitoring progress, revising schedules, resolving problems, and accomplishing work results.
  • Reduce operational waste and improve efficiency by contributing ideas, promoting participation, setting goals, and providing feedback.
  • Communicate and execute requirements with line associates and prepare production documentation and reports accurately.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained and that all procedures are followed.
  • Ensure all products, materials, and workmanship meet quality standards.
  • Assist with quality issues, conduct root cause analysis, and complete assigned corrective actions.
  • Maintain Kanban and other inventory systems for the line, and communicate with Supply Chain about part shortages and special needs to complete orders.
  • Check and arrange for the availability of materials, tools, fixtures, and maintenance requests.
  • Ensure compliance with designated safety and productivity standards and Underwriters Laboratories requirements.
  • Participate in inventory and cycle-counting activities as directed.
  • Train on and remain capable of performing all tasks in the department.
  • Provide leadership and direction for direct reports to complete the production schedule safely and efficiently using quality workmanship and materials.
  • Ensure company policies are observed and employee confidentiality is preserved.
  • Provide training, performance evaluations, and guidance for direct reports.
Desired Qualifications
  • Some college, military, or vocational training is preferred.
