Democratic National Committee

View

The Democratic National Committee coordinates Democratic campaigns across the United States, mobilizes voters, and funds grassroots activism to help candidates win elections from local offices to the presidency. It works through partnerships with state parties, national fundraising events, and community outreach, providing training, data, messaging, volunteers, and field operations in every ZIP code. It differentiates itself with a long-standing national network, strong ties to state parties, and a focus on broad participation and addressing barriers for historically marginalized communities. Its goal is to build a large, inclusive political movement that secures victories at all levels of government and shapes policy through Democratic leadership.

What believers are saying

  • May 2026 autopsy release pushed the DNC toward transparency after months of criticism.
  • Democratic wins in Virginia, New Jersey, and municipal races validate local investment.
  • Martin says 2026 fundraising beat major-donor and grassroots targets from the last midterm cycle.

What critics are saying

  • August 2026 filings showed $16 million cash and $17.9 million debt, trailing RNC by $100 million.
  • Donors remain reluctant after Martin's 2026 autopsy fights and withholding controversy.
  • If 2026 midterms disappoint, 2028 nominee fights will expose a broken national committee.

What makes Democratic National Committee unique

  • Ken Martin's 2026 50-state strategy spreads money to every state party monthly.
  • The DNC focuses on year-round organizing, not just presidential cycles and TV advertising.
  • State-party investments align the committee with local candidates, volunteers, and territorial infrastructure.
